Yes it is a very beautiful city. Unfortunately me and my wife were treated so poorly when we were there. It was a very sad experience. We dressed very well, were overwhelmingly polite with everyone, but what we got made us sick to our stomachs. This happened the very moment we crossed the border from Spain into France. Spain was wonderful and the people were so nice, the minute we crossed the border, the opposite occurred. We heard all the negativity about visiting and the steps we can take take to fit in. Seated in the back of restaurants next to the kitchen when the place has barely anyone in. Accept for the few people on the tour we took, literally, and I am not not not exaggerating here, literally everyone did not want us there. Why go to a country that really does not want you there? We were in tears. We tried so hard only to be treated like something below human. We studied what to do for months. Nope. This is why Im writing this because This city was our worst experience in France. I love Wolters World and hes right about everything he has said, but I will never gonna life to France, which is what they wanted in the first place.

I'm from Bordeaux and I must disagree about the public transport being convenient. Yes it gets you anywhere around the city, but it's always crowded like a cattle wagon. Also, don't use a car, there are trafic jams everywhere in the city and on the Rocade (highway) around it and you'll take hours to make a few kilometers. Best way to move in Bordeaux is by bike!
There is a lot of tourists everywhere, and not a few, especially on the docks where you are it's always crowded with tourists in the summer. If you went there in summer of 2020 there was nobody, be it tourists or locals because of Covid restrictions.
Also, there are some neighborhoods where you better not act like a tourist (for example don't take pictures and videos, especially if you are filming people, it's illegal to take pictures of and film people without their authorization in France and we also very much dislike that for the majority. Be careful whenever you go in the neighborhood around St Jean trainstation and in St Michel.

One more thing about France in general, its filled with tourists. To me it doesnt become a personal experience at that point. Its an everyone experience. Everyone wants the typical thing, red flag! Everyone will be there too! So many other countries where you can find this today. I never tell anyone to go to France because it is simply a trap for people who arent thinking of how it will be. Yes you can find that quaint little cafe and have coffee and watch people. But you can do that anywhere else! Why go to a country thats flooded with tourists to do it! They know this is what you want. Theres no longer personal

I was there a couple of years ago. The amount of tourists is climbing, but it was so wonderful! The food, the wine, the ambiance were all outstanding! It felt much safer than Paris. The many side trips available from Bordeaux were varied and all lovely! The bus and tram systems are efficient. It is a great city to walk in with all the pedestrian areas! Wolter, you failed to mention the duck! So good! Do visit both a big winery and a small (Mom and Pop) one. They are both unique experiences! Did I mention the food, wine and ambience? Go!

Bordeaux has the look and feel of a warmer, sunnier Paris. All that 18th stone and river-setting, you could be forgiven for thinking the first few Parisian arrondissements had been dragged 200 miles south. For me, Bordeaux clearly is lovely. Open, but with a manageable feeling of see all my important bits in a day. All it really lacked for me was a core of tightly packed narrow streets. Everything seemed like I was wandering around the French version of Edinburghs New Town when I wanted a bit of tumbledown Old Town magic too.

I've France one time, but I stayed only in Paris. I plan on returning in 2023 as the country is hosting the Rugby World Cup (cross my fingers nothing crazy happens by then! After watching this video, I'll be sure to check out Bordeaux. I'll be touring a lot of France this time around rather than the last time. Thank you for posting this video! I drooled over the food while having nostalgic moment of my time in Paris!

Sorry Mark, I had to stop watching this video about half-way through. It's not your fault. It's a fantastic video and you're a wonderful presenter, but watching it reminded me that as an American, I can't visit the country I love the most. That's all I'm going to say.

How many days are enough for Bordeaux, I was planning two days back in March but of course everything changed. So hoping when borders are open to go to Paris for four days and then Bordeaux, so how many days are enough for it?

Hm. the street does look cleaner than Paris, LOL. But I am sorry and don't see why I want to visit that city if you have gone to Paris, London, Rome, etc. The architecture in the video looks very similar.
