I live in Nashville, Tennessee right now and have been for 17 years since I was 2 in 2004. I'm 19 and a Sophomore in college right now. I go to Middle Tennessee State University in Murfreesboro, Tennessee but at some point in the beginning of May next year in 2022, I'm more than likely gonna to move to Kansas City, Missouri to live there with the other half of my family and my other parent, my dad. The surprising part is that I've never found out who my dad was until this year in 2021. He's been living there in Kansas City, Missouri the whole time and I didn't know I had a dad there until both him and my mom told me. It came to the point where my dad wants me to move there and live with him. At first I didn't agree with that idea. but then I figured that it's time for me to possibly move somewhere else soon since I've lived in Nashville, Tennessee for a while. I heard very good similar things about Kansas City, Missouri as well, especially the Kansas City Chiefs and their Arrowhead stadium and football games. I'm gonna try to scream and cheer for the Cheifs as loud as I can at Kansas City Cheifs home games at the Arrowhead stadium. My dad said I'll like it over there, so hopefully I will and won't regret moving there so when I move there I'll be transferring from Middle Tennessee State University (MTSU) to the University of Missouri-Kansas City (UMKC.

I might move to Kansas City, its not a fer sure but the only thing I really worry about is if any racism exists and what the crime rate is like.
Obviously I know racism is everywhere but just want to get more insight.
Also Im from LA and it almost seems too good to lol but also its a dream of mine to be surrounded by nice ppl like this.
Im not doubting the video and the people of Kansas, but its tough to believe this when Ive lived in LA all my life
I plan on visiting and staying with my dad for 2 weeks just to see what its like.
But this video was very helpful!
I was born and raised in LA but Im Mexican so thats why I worry about how Id get treated.
If any people from Kansas would like to comment please do, I encourage it cause I really want to leave LA but just need a bit more motivation I guess.
& again Im not doubting anything you said about the friendliest people on earth.
But would be nice if you guys could reach out to me and tell me more about the citys please and if you think Id be treated differently and outcasted.

Great video! You've captured the surprise of KC pretty well. I've lived all over this country. Seattle, Charlotte, Dallas, Philly, Atlanta, KC. and have traveled the world and experienced so many great cultures. It was a shock to us when we moved here 10 years ago for a new job that it completely sucked us in. We love it! It has replaced North Carolina as home for our family and it is unlikely we'll ever leave. We live on the Kansas side, but honestly. if you live here you rarely notice that there are state lines. It is one big metropolitan area that we all feel pride in. I often call it Dallas junior when people ask. Many of the same amenities and things-to-do without the BIG of Dallas - less traffic, less severe summer temps, nicer people, more laid back. When the new airport is done in a couple of years getting in and out of here will be much easier as well. Enjoy your travels. and thanks for recognizing our hidden gem. (Now, let's keep it a secret); )

I've been to Kansas City about 6 times or so because my gf's dad was in a nursing home there. I have to say, I've done a decent amount of traveling and KC is honestly one of my favorite places. The Nelson Atkins museum is awesome. The BBQ is great. You can go to a football or baseball game or casino if that's your thing. It's laid back but still a ton to do and this is coming from someone from the east coast NYC/Philly. I also loved updown I think it's called (a bar/video game spot. Joe's BBQ is great and so much cheaper than BBQ on east coast (they're baked beans are amazing. There's a great French crepe place on the west I forget the name. Also people are friendly, my cell phone fell out of my back pocket from the upper deck to the lower level at a chiefs game and it was brought back to me within 5 min.

Union Station is huge because KC was and is the largest railroad hub. Historically, KC was the starting point of the western pioneer trails. MCI (KCI) was the headquarters of TWA. People still enjoy the airport because of its practical layout: you can simply exit the road to the airport and be dropped off at your gate. No need to walk through a shopping mall or other terminals to find your flight. The courtesy phones are to prevent crime from fraudulent taxis.

As a proud resident of downtown KC f
or 5 years I can't disagree with anything you said. LC's & Slaps are the best BBQ joints! The Streetcar is being extended all the way to the Plaza now but currently you can only take it from River Market to Union Station as you said. Union Station has an amazing presentation on Auschwitz going on through Jan 2022. Great video. i really enjoyed it.

Pretty sure that Kansas City, Kansas is not a part of Kansas City, Missouri -- it's its own city. People in Kansas City, Kansas do not vote for the mayor of Kansas City, Missouri, they do not pay Missouri taxes, etc. I imagine at one time when there was a Kansas territory they were the same city, but not today.

Don't forget Topsy's Popcorn, Lamar's Donuts, lots and lots of places to party. If you like casual dining or restaurants and clubs with a dress code we got you covered. There is also a lot of theaters and concert venues. Lots of conventions come to kansas city. Our snow is crazy though.
