1) Blackpool, Lancashire - Lots of good tourist attractions including Blackpool tower, Blackpool Circus, Blackpool Zoo, Model Village, Stanley Park, Many shopping centres, Blackpool Pleasure Beach, Sandcastle Waterpark
However NEVER stay in a hotel in Blackpool as they are disgusting stay somewhere near Blackpool (A good example would be ribby hall holiday village about 10 minutes away from Blackpool)
2) Barrow-In-Furness, Cumbria - Barrow is a very beautiful green space with many historical and beautiful places to visit including Furness Abbey, South Lakes Safari Zoo, Many Parks to visit and Botanical Gardens, Barrow Market, Walney Peil and Roa Island. A great place to stay is South End Caravan Park on Walney Island.
3) EVERYWHERE
Pretty much everywhere and everyone is lovely in the north hope you enjoy!

But as a Brit who has been to the US over 20 times and knows lots of Americans I would say - unless you're staying outside of a large city don't hire a car. Imagine the stress of driving with your family out of London or Manchester with your family for the first time on the left. Also unless you specify an automatic you better be OK driving a manual stickshift.
If you're London based the trains are fantastic for exploring. Your favorite (see that) place, York, is just under two hours on the train so a doable day trip.
Also that first breakfast sausage you've used looks insipid. I'd be sending that back to get browned and a minus point for the hotel/B&B.
I like how you pronounced Bath like a northerner with a hard A I wasn't expecting that!

Amazon's not going anywhere so I know that eventually it will come back.
Fidelity considers Amazon as a large growth company (probably because as big as it is, it still only has 7% of the retail market)
buying via Amazon Smile donations donates some money to my favorite charity too!

Buy train tickets in advance, you can buy tickets for the next day and the cost will be much less than a ticket for travel the same day, you will save up to 75% off the cost, also look for trains after rush hour, so after 10am to 3pm and then again after 6-7pm, London does have a lot to see, but you will be paying well over the odds, get away from London ASAP and save yourself a fortune, many things will be free or much cheaper, don't get ripped off in London.

If you're a Regency literary hound, forget Bath. Come to Basingstoke where Jane Austen actually grew up, and then take a drive south towards the coast. Scenery to die for.
Also, try a cornish pasty. Very nice.

Took the tube from Heathrow Saturday and was happy to find that you could just tap on and tap off at the gates, no need to buy tickets. Kids still need tickets and each adult needs their own contactless to use, but it was nice and easy in general. Even Google Pay acts as a contactless payment form. Also got some super friendly assistance from TFL employee while getting kids tickets.

Why do you not tell your audience some truths like the fact that there are a lot of xenophobic people in Britain, isolationists with a strong sense of superiority, the food is disgusting, the infrastructure is out dated, the public transport is a disgrace, the tourist sites are falling into disrepair and everything is overcrowded? Otherwise, all is fine.

Do NOT rent a car for getting around London. You'll have to pay the congestion charge, the traffic is awful, there's nowhere to park and you're much better off with the public transport. Which is also adequate in the rest of the UK so non-drivers can get around perfectly well.

Something I learned in Scotland from a wise old man, Americans do not speak English. Just like Scottish people don't speak English. We speak American! If you keep that in mind your time in England, Scotland, or Ireland will be more enjoyable.

Since the UK isn't in the EU any more an has Boris Johnson as prime minister it is not worth to visit the this looser country any more. The nationalists Boris Johnson and Nigel Farage shouldn't be rewarded with money from EU-Tourist.
