we head to Magic Kingdom to have a look at some new Ink and Paint merch that is now available! While we were there we had a look around at some of the construction going on around Magic Kingdom. We got an update on how the Tron roller coaster was progressing and we also noticed that all of the dream lights had been removed from Cinderella Castle so the walk was that runs to the right of the castle is back open. This walk was was previously closed because the crane used to take the lights down was occupying that space. After Magic Kingdom we headed over to the Contemporary Resort to see what kind of treats they had available for a special holiday that Disney made up called Villainstine Day which takes place on Feb 13th every year. There were 10 treats total and we tried all 10! I liked about 4 out of the 10!

They changed the formulation of red food coloring in the 1970's because of red dye concerns. So the dyes they use now don't hold the color well, and the color fades to pink really fast unless you use a TON of food coloring. That makes really deep red icing taste bitter. If you want to make a really true red icing, you have to use a light chocolate icing to start with then add the red to it, and you can use less of the red that way, but it can still taste nasty when you're done. They make no fade red food coloring but they still fade out. Purple has the same problems because red is part of purple: )

From what I remember, they have the peanut butter pie all the time but Im pretty sure it doesnt have a bunch of the extras that were added in order to decorate it for Scar. You may be able to give it a try and see if not having the extra decorations helps with the coffee flavour

The red frosting will taste bad becuase of the colourant they have used to get that intense colour they must have used a large amount of colourant and the red every time i have used it seems to have a strange taste to it so that would be my guess as to why it tastes bad

You asked why red frosting tastes bad. The darker/bolder colored frostings require more food coloring to achieve the color needed. It can often leave a bitter taste. Im a baker & I avoid black, red & purple frostings at all costs

Thank you for showing the theming inside of the Sir Mickeys gift shop, I didnt know about it and Ill definitely make a detour to see it the next time I make it to WDW! Love all the details you point out!

I love your videos, I get excited when I see them pop up. I live in the UK so am missing WDW really bad, despite only being there last September: ') but these videos keep me updated, thanks guys! :)

both red and black frosting tastes that way because of how much food coloring it takes to get the color. The amount you would normally use for any other color would leave it looking pink or gray.

Red frosting tastes so bad because you have to use a lot of food coloring in order to achieve a rich red. Love watching you guys by the way! Been goin to Disney for 22 years now (since I was 2)

Do I see some dark circles around your eyes? I am sure you guys are tired with the new addition. It gets easier. and then harder in different ways but every bit worth it: )
