In todays vlog we head to Universal Orlandos Citywalk to try the all new Bend The Bao quick service restaurant. We KC: Sadly voodoo doughnuts are a very poor imitation of the original voodoo doughnut in Portland, Oregon. They were creative and irreverent and original. Orlandos location is a different story. I am not impressed with stale cereal toppings and run of the mill average yeast doughnuts. Not when there are much more creative delicious options that are worth the calories. Salty doughnuts, YES. Worth it. Yall should buy a bunch of those and review the heck out of them. And NO I would never suggest such a thing so I can live vicariously without having to double my run mileage as penance. ahem

Im glad you decided to give this place another try. Ive helped open a half dozen restaurants and as a result have a rule of thumb to never go to a restaurant in the first month they are open. It just takes a while for everybody to get in the groove and do their best, to weed out the bad and embrace the good.

For those who are going to visit and want to go to The Salty, its right next to East End market where the original Gideons is, so you can get your cookies there without the wait at DS. Also, King Bao is like a 5 min drive from The Salty and East End, if you want delicious bao for way less.

I hope they listen to your feedback and make changes. They have to be consistent with quality. Doesnt matter that its after 4 pm. Close early and put out a good product, or theyll end up closing forever. Also, being from MD, I wouldnt touch that crab cake! Looks like a fritter.

Been to citywalk many times and they have some great restaurants. This would be a hard pass for me just because there are so many better places with better quality food and better selections. Plus you can sit down inside in the AC and relax. :) Thanks for the video!

I just happened to have watched The DIS review the Bao's and they said the exact same thing. Too pricy for the size.
When you said you were going I was both saying nooooo don't do it and oh would be interesting for your take on it to see if different

I love bao - disappointed to hear there's actually dairy in the bun so there's no vegan option: ( there is a good place in my city which has two or three types of vegan bao though and it's so good (but yes, like this place a little pricey for the size haha)

I wanted to try Vodoo doughnuts a week ago at Universal Hollywood but they weren't open when we walked in. We tried to stop on the way out but the line was way too long. Next time I'm in Orlando I will have to try again. They look so yummy.

If you want a good bao to eat in Orlando, go to Nine Dragons at Epcot. They have an amazing General Tsos chicken bao on their appetizer menu. Sooo good. $10 & pretty filling too & much bigger. Keep up the great videos. Ohio loves you both!

Those buns look ok. If I went there often I would try it but I have to be picky because its just vacation for us and usually it's a sit down. Thanks for being the taste testers! Can you guys try the new place at Port Orleans?
