Kurdish people are one of the most friendly and welcoming people and they will invite you into their homes, give you food and as you mentioned 'free stuff' but it is important to not exploit that.
Also if you are in Kurdistan, please do not refer to mountains and anything you see as Iraqi as you are in Kurdistan not Iraq.

I expected to see empty buildings with bullet holes and i see beautiful malls. I never thought that they have different tribes over there.
