video description
But the box for eggs can be bought at Dick's sporting goods store, and regular hard boiled eggs will last for quite a few days without refrigeration.
Many Native Americans used to half-cook eggs and keep them for later. That would be a good way to insure that any bacteria is killed, when you boil them hard later.
And early American settlers used to preserve eggs in several ways, like pickling them, which you might find or learn to do.
The pork floss sounds interesting though, to be sprinkled into a bland soup mix or ramen noodles.
Good job! Great ideas!

Dude I know I'm super late but I just gotta add, Lop cheong. Lop yuk is good too. Miso soup in the morning is freaking great. Ramen, of course, Japanese cup noodles or the packs if you got a big enough pot. Bring some of the fish sausages that come in tube to go with it. You can also bring cooked rice with you if you want, but for long trips maybe not ideal cuz of weight. Onigiri as you have already done in much later videos is a good thing to bring with you too.
Edit: Oh I forgot the best one, Zhong zi, or Chimaki, pretty much anything glutinous rice with fillings wrapped in bamboo leaf, it's basically the original Asian hiking food.

Just a thing about the eggs. So here in North America they actually wash eggs before going to the consumer. This leaves them without their natural coating, making the eggs porous.
If someone chooses not to refrigerate eggs that have already been refrigerated there's a good chance of condensation forming on the shell, allowing for bacteria etc to penetrate the shell.
It sucks that we do it this way, but they do it to avoid salmonella on the shells.

Dude, I'm shocked at the lack of conversation about how much of a goldmine Asian supermarkets are for camping food. So much dried food that's highly calorie rich! They ha e entire vegan sections, dried mushrooms, dried tofu, dried fish. It's just crazy that people will spend 15 bucks on a backpacking meal and not even enter an Asian supermarket! I'm vegetarian and I don't eat tofu but there's so much stuff in there for meat eaters.

I'm eurasian and I love western food as well as Chinese food but when your headline was Asian foods I thought it was homemade like those on China Bushcraft Camping where they actually stir fry and have rice boiled with fresh Veggies. this is what I want to see and my continuous asking for it has produced a few more Gourmet Camping trips. seeing a thick Rib Steak or marinated Chops frying or bbq is a great video to see!

So sad we don't have a safe Asian Market we can visit around here. We use to go all the time, but it's like 40 minutes away and lately it's become really dangerous there--like drive by shootings and gang fight in the parking lot sort of dangerous. Wish there was a way to buy some of this stuff online. Sort of like some sort of online, trustworthy grocery store.

I picked up some pork sung this past weekend and I had forgotten that you had said you liked it in egg sandwiches. That is what I made and it was very good. They had a similar produce called pork fu that I may try next time. I'll keep my eye out for the black bean cereal the next time I am there.

When I'm in the bush, I love some kind of flavored noodles with one of those packs of flavored tuna stirred-in. You've given me some ideas for a few variations. Thanks Andrew! I've gotta try it with some canned squid. And I think there's an Asian market about three miles from my house.

A good trick in peeling an egg is, to fill a glass cup up with a shot of water (1/2 cup of water) and drop your egg in the cup of water. Capp the open end with your hand and shake vigourously back and forth. look inside and your egg should be perfectly separated from the shell. lol
