Virgin Falls State Natural Area - Beautiful Winter Solo Hiking Timothy: Beautiful! Thanks for sharing. As a native Tennessean I've hiked to Virgin Falls several times. It's also a favorite of mine and, yes, Tennessee has over 874 waterfalls according to TN Landforms! One thing that is unique and intriguing about Virgin Falls is that the water bursts out of a stream from the ground and then within a few feet it plunges over the cliff. only to disappear underground immediately after the falls. which is quite unusual. I don't know how far the water goes in the underground state before it appears above ground again. Love your videos!

Nice video but you missed the main point of this waterfall.
The only time this stream is visible is the falls.
it flows from a cave, over the falls and drains back into a cave at the bottom.
WHEN you return, notice that there's no pool at the bottom of the falls and no stream flowing from it.
Not being a jerk just mentioning what has always fascinated me about this waterfall.
Absolutely love AA
Just spent all weekend binging a LOT of your content!
The hike on LeConte and Dolly Sods were amazing videos.
Looking forward to much more AA content.

Great Video Robbie, thank you for going here, I used to take my son here when it was hardly blazed or known since it was on property owned by Bridgestone Firestone Company. The marvel of the area is that the water flows out of sandstone and limestone caves and back into sinks in the ground immediately. The falls have official campsites now and is a managed area, but used to just be a random -ewok village- of campsites at different levels around the falls and valley. Still looks as beautiful as it did 20+ years ago.

I love regular AA contents, but solo hike by Robby is like a nice change of pace and almost like a spin off that is equally amazing and fascinating. Enjoyed this video as always, and if you love waterfalls, I would highly recommend Ricketts Glen state park in Pennsylvania (nearby Wilkes-Barre. That place has almost 15-20 waterfalls in 8 mile trail. By the end of the trail, you will be mesmerized and tired of waterfalls at the same time. Keep up the good work, and looking forward to another amazing videos -

Agree that the magic of Virgin Falls lies in the unique geology of the area. something I am sure Andrew would have touched on but hey. gotta love Robbie's energy, awesome photography, and endless appetite! So interesting to see the solo vs group effort in the finished product. In my opinion the collective results in the best end product including everything from the narration to the music. but hey easy for me to say. and 'beggars can't be choosers-. I appreciate the amazing work!

Awesome Hike. If you and the rest of AA come back, there are a bunch of trails across the street from Virgin Falls area that are beautiful and challenging as well. It's called Bridgestone-Firestone Centennial Wilderness. Also check out the -Fiery Gizzard- Trail in South Cumberland State Park, which includes a few waterfalls and challenging trails and primitive camping. Thanks for always filming and sharing with us.

I find Robby's solo hikes to be soothing. Just the video I need to bake and chill and sleep. I live vicariously through you because I won't be winter hiking any time soon. The cold settles in my bones and stays there until a nice hot shower. I'm sure I'd be hypothermic in no time. Thanks for the video Robby. We know who really loves hiking in this group --.

Robby, you really shine in those solo hikes. You do it so skillfully that I almost forget that you're walking at least twice as far as we see. Each time we see you walking, we know that you've had to set up the camera.
A hint for using that purifying straw: Scoop up a big cup of water and drink it standing up. No need to lie down prone.

What a solo dolo adventure. Robby, u are a one of a kind adventurer. Beautiful views & captures. I live in Minnesota so to say the least u have got the skills, experience, & realistic human nature. This makes me feel home. U are appreciated really. To have a one on one would be a dream. Thank u. Please heart my post.

A great new adventure! Sad that you guys couldn't do it together but honestly I must say I enjoy the time alone (ok together with my dog) on the trail as well. And yeah, driving through snow isn't fun at all, but hiking through it at least looks cool in the video; ) Stay safe out there. Best wishes, Mario
