I was there back in '87, but only having a regular car, I wasn't able to get nearly as far back in the park as you were with 4WD. I read somewhere (Wikipedia) recently that, if it were not no the Navajo Reservation, Monument Valley would be a national park. Also, the next time you get to the area, another beautiful place to visit on the reservation is Canyon de Chelly (d-SHAY. Anyone recognize this, maybe for the first time, as being the place John Ford used as the backdrop for many old John Wayne movies?

I've seen all your Arizona videos and you made all the landmarks look absolutely stunning. I'm planning to take a trip with my family to Arizona in a few months and there are three places that we are interested in seeing: the Grand Canyon, Antelope Canyon, and Monument Valley. However, we only have time to visit two of the three places, so which of the three do you think is the least worthwhile? Wondering if you could give me a recommendation.

having just been there, anything but the real thing is not justice. Everyone should go they have tours there, in your car, their vehicles or horseback moon runs too, means late evening to see the stars. Across the street from the entrance is Gouldings camp, lodge, market, gas station. Up the road is a KOA. Near by to see is Gooseneck state park, Mexican Hat rock and valley of the gods. All worth staying there for about 3 to 4 days

How did Gd make such a stunning place? He took a huge block of sandstone and took out everything that didn't look like Monument Valley I went there back in 1995 and took in a tour of the place. It included lunch cooked by local Navajos under Rain God Mesa. The best meal I ate on that trip. I get a bit envious of a friend who spend Xmas in the Valley every year.

I was here on 3/9/2019 and words can not express the aura and overall atmosphere Monument Valley was. I will never forget this trip and feel so fortunate I was able to go to such a powerful place. Unlike the Grand Canyon, this place is empty and allows you to really experience the gravity and atmosphere of the land without the ugliness humans can bring.

I took a horse back trip through there. One of the most impressive trips I have taken and I have had many. The land is wild and untamed, and so spiritual. We came across a man playing a flute in one of the hills, so startling and humbling. And we never saw a single human other than our riding group which made it all the more amazing.
