Ciudad Perdida (The Lost City) is one of the wonders of Colombia and South America and one of South America's most popular trekking destinations. The trek is 44 km/27 mi round trip, and takes 4 days to complete. The hike is strenuous because of the heat, humidity, mud, bugs, and steep ascents and descents. Ciudad Perdida (Known locally by its indigenous name of Teyuna) has been founded around 800 CE, and abandoned after the Spanish colonization. Rediscovered in the 1970s, and up to today only small part of the area has been uncovered. Located in the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta mountains (declared a biosphere reserve by UNESCO. Recorded January 2019 in 4K Ultra HD with Sony AX700 and DJI Osmo Pocket.

Beautiful journey. Thanks for sharing it with the world. It occurred to me while watching this that there is a good reason why these are abandoned. Perhaps the natives that built these labor intensive rock cities and temples figured that the effort wasn't worth it due to invasion, warring neighboring tribes, and resources consumed. I'd imagine after the invasion by the Spaniards tribes decided it best to stick to building with palm frond thatching. They never knew when another invasion might happen, domestic or from abroad.

6: 56 A map? The jungle is amazing to behold. This is a well traveled trail, I wonder what the back country looks like. What's missing for the viewer are the smells of the wood and vegetation, the humidity, the sounds of the birds and animals. Only a reflection of what the journey and place were like. Checking a map online, no roads in the area. 20 miles (32 km) to the nearest small towns through mountainous terrain. How long was the hike?

Every week on Friday (okay, sometimes after 2 weeks) I would like to write: Your best video ever. This week also; -) Hey, I recognized you used two new cams. Maybe you lost your old AX100; -. I also changed to AX700 just before Christmas. DJI Osmo I am not quite sure, but it's in my mind. Kind regards from one to the other software developer; -)

I have seen the odd photo of this site but never knew much about it, a pleasure to see some high quality video of this site. 44km in rainforest sounds like a ton of fun and it certainly would keep you fit. Interesting that you have used footage from the Osmo pocket, I have recently been looking at one as the results look good.

Thanks for sharing this unique place. Exquisite stone work. Is much known about the culture? Were those plateaus for farming, or religious? How is it that on a 4 day trip you encounter at about 6: 00 some people looking recently showered, walking without packs, only carrying a water bottle? Did you have porters? Nice music and birds.
