We we're in Berlin for New Year's a few years ago. The party mile becomes uncomfortably crowded around midnight and is so packed that you can't move. I recommend checking it out well before midnight and then getting out to somewhere else in the city with a view towards the Brandenburg gate. Still a good view for the fireworks but much more room to breathe and even people selling mulled wine and other drinks from small stalls and/or bikes with tiny refrigerators around town. And quicker and easier exit from the festivities whenever you want to head to a club or your hotel to sleep. This year we're going to Athens Plane leaves tomorrow

yeaaaah uh, if you want to be in Times square for New years, make sure you get there hours early, find a good place to just stand around while being being chilled to the bone from the cold weather in some places while boiling hot from being packed in like a human sardine in other places and make sure you've got an empty plastic bottle to pee in. You don't think you can get easy access to a public toilet do you?

Wow, whoever compiled this list clearly did NO RESEARCH AT ALL. I cant say on most of these, but Ive heard from loved ones the NYE celebration in NY is a complete waste of time. Its just standing around in your winter coat with 100, 000 assholes in below freezing weather for around 6 hours and then spending another 4 just trying to get home. Thats a HARD PASS

Berlin has got to be number 1 because you can buy and light your own fireworks all these others cities only have organised fireworks there you can have your own one and it is not only at 12 it is from 6 pm until 6 am

Tokyo should've been on here New Years is wild in Tokyo plus the traditional visitation of shrines and making a wish for new years is a really nice tradition and also Soba noodles for the new years are yum: )

It's not where you celebrate that matters It's with you who are celebrating that does I would rather be right here in India celebrating with my friends rather than in Brazil with no one else

I've heard nothing but ill of New Yorks NYE party. Can't believe places like Dubai, Paris, Tokyo and Singapore weren't on the list and NYC was. Also Sydney and London beat NYC hands down
reply

How the hell does New York, Hong Kong and Rio beat Sydney? Sydney is the best in the world for New Years. Also why is London number 9? That should be way lower on the list.

I cant believe I saw my city of Valparaiso on the list, I have home sickness after that. I will spend the new year on my new life on Easter island this year
reply

New Yorks New Year shouldnt be on this list, its become smaller in Times Square and the crowd is sectioned to make way for staging, theyre so dead before and after midnight.
