Sankt Peterburg has not spirit of Russia its massonic city. like Washington he was architectered and built by massonic groups. Massonic groups even are mentioned and described in the Leo Tolstoy's roman War and peace Population of that city was collected from non slavic provintions of the Impire like Baltic ones or Finland or from abroad like western Europe. When you are trying to greet someone or to start talking they passing by without words they are closed and not communicative its not slavic behavior. Inhabitants of that city have not russian sentimental behavior and russian emotions, they are like zombies From that city Russia got the today's president. Putin is closed and have stonefaced featuries. Its seen that he doesn remind russian spirit. He doesnot understand once own people - the russians. Thats why he gave all ministries to non native people of Russia Jews, ukranians, chechens Goverment of Russia is not consist of the russians It proofs only one thing that city is fatal decision of tsar Peter

Great video Mojo. usually your top-10s are full of controversial comments disagreeing with your lists. But this one is an immaculate piece of work. I have been to Saint Petersburg and seen most of the places shown on the video. and WOW, what a city I fell in love with it. So, I promised myself to go back and spend more time to explore the places I could not see and revisit those I did visit. A little PS to this video, you could've mentioned how deep the metro stations are in Saint Petersburg, if not mistaken they have the deepest electric steps to go down to a platform.

Having seen most of the great cities across North and South America, Europe, including Russia, as well Beijing and Vladivostok, I was mostly impressed by Saint Petersburg. The city was made for tourists. Plus great open spaces, which cause a lot of walking to get around. With end results: slim, elegant, beautiful women all over the city. Most likely Peter the Great envisioned the extra benefits of the miracle he has founded.

I visited St. Petersburg for the first time February last year and then went back during the World Cup Not for the city but for summer of the city. It's truly one of the most beautiful cities I've ever seen. Anyone here could recommend a time to visit during the fall season? I am just not sure when the leaves would turn gold in Russia.

No way, the most beautiful cities in the world are Seville and San Sebastian or Donostia, both in Spain. I am not saying that Saint Petersburg is not beautiful, sure it has beautiful places but remember that it is a rebuilt city not original. Everything is basically new and rebuilt between 1945 and 1970.

Been there 4 years ago during white nights. It is really a beauty of it's own kind. Thought about cities with that density of history and beauty. only thing that I could compare to that is Rome. I understand why Russians are proud of St. Petersburg, especially when you visit some of the museums.

Without a doubt StPB is the most amazing city to visit. In my travels I have had to visit most Euro cities. they do not have the edge on StPB. Probably the cleanest and safest city on the planet. Not to mention the food and quality of everything they offer. Moscow comes a close second.

The most stunning thing in Saint Petersburg in late June is the plethora of amazingly beautiful women you encounter walking Nevsky Prospect at night. I have never seen a city with such a high percentage of women who could be models.

Warning: if you come to SPB in winter bring good snow boots with good cleats. Sidewalks are mostly covered with snow and ice and you are guaranteed to fall on your ass several times a day if you don't have the right shoes.

You mention that The era of the older buildings was a more opulent time, but only for the very few aristocrats, I bet the rest of society then did not think their lives were opulent, they were dirt poor, hence the revolution
