Flying on a 30 YEAR OLD African Airliner! I fell in love with a Kenyan lady at a SPAR Europa department store while we visited relatives in that region. I spoke with her about the famous coffee that is transported from the Kenyan harbor of Mombassa. She spoke better German than I did, I'm very proud to say. Also she and I like the songs sung by the late Mr. Peter Alexander

Did you happen to get the registration of the F50?
We had several F50s flying to here where i live in Geraldton Western Australia until only a few years ago. They were operated by Skywest Airlines which was acquired by Virgin Australia who then sold off all the F50s, to my knowledge, to mostly African airlines. I know at least some are definitely operating out of Kenya now.
Im curious to know if the aircraft is one of the old girls that used to fly here.
The Fokker 50 is a beautiful aircraft and has a very special place in my heart.

Had you been on a Fokker F. 27 which is the earlier model with the Rolls-Royce Dart engines then you'd really have a nice flight on a loud airplane especially where you were seated. The Fokker 50 that you're on isn't all that old considering some of the Fokker F. 27 you could have been on might have been 10 to 15 years older than your plane.
I've never flown on the Fokker 50 as I am from the United States, I have flown on the Fokker F. 27 but would love to ride on the 50. I would like to to log the type in my book just not in Africa.

Entering a runway with take-off clearance while continuing to roll is a good way to achieve maximum performance. This Fokker sat at the end of the runway and then had to dial in power and prop settings before brakes were released. Oh well.

Is it an idea to fly a Dakota of Buffalo Airways of the TV series Ice Pilotsin Canada? Or in Alaska from Unalakleet to Barrow or to Little Diomede Island? From TV series Flying Wild Alaska May be you did already. :-)

Im so sorry Noel, Ive watched a few of these in a row. The Amount junk food you eat is crazy! If it wasnt for business, executive, etc flights, I dont know if youd ever get a proper meal! Lol I hope you enjoyed Africa

Must've been over 20 years since I last flew on a Fokker 50 (with KLM. They sure made use of every inch of the runway for take-off there: . The wheel bearings looked a bit loose to me.

Noel we have a Fokker 50 operating between Dublin Airport and Donegal, the latter being a spectacular place to land. Worth the trip if haven't already done it.

Thats called using up ALL the runway! You should have seen what flying around Africa was like in the 80s, Noel. What hilarious videos you could have made. lol
reply

Ha, I loved the mind your head sign! Have you done videos on any jet Fokkers, the 28, 70, or 100? I found this while looking for the F28.
reply

My Dad flew a braniff folker friendship into Orange County John Wayne airport back in 1968 He said they were very cramped and noisy.

Fokker is what Noel shouted out when he saw the plane lift off right at the end of the run. That's more than a little scary.

What is your main point of flying on those Airplanes rather than disgracing Africa, why don't you do something useful?
reply

If you had known what you learned after researching the airlines would you still have taken the flight?
reply

I would love to know what type and brand suitcase you use. It has to be sturdy to hold up for your trips.
reply

30 year olds Airliner? Big deal! Half of the airliners flying in the world are more than 25 years old.
