Onboard a SERIOUSLY COOL Flight to the Masai Mara! Mike: Once lock down is over I will be aiming to travel to New Zealand, it; s a trip we do as often as we can afford it. We usually go for 5 to 6 weeks in January and February. We always go in the last week of January in order to attend the Auckland Folk Festival, after the festival we tour around NZ to meet up with friends that we have scattered across the country.
We've made about a dozen trips to NZ and apart from 5 trips they've all been with Air NZ LHR to LAX to AKL, Air NZ are not the cheapest carrier but we like their service and friendly staff. The only pain in the flight is having to go through immigration and security at LAX. On 2 trips we did Virgin LHR to SFO then Air NZ SFO to AKL and the reverse on the way back. Virgin have a similar philosophy to Air NZ and we always enjoy flying with them. We also done Virgin LHR to HKG then Air NZ HKG to AKL and the reverse on the way back. We've used Singapore Airlines all the way LHR to SIN to AKL, the down side of that flight was that in our area of the economy seating the in-flight entertainment had failed on the LHR to SIN sector meaning that we were looking at a blank screen for the whole sector, good job I had a book. On another trip we did JAL LHR to NRT then Air NZ from NRT to AKL and returned by the same route, we were lucky to get upgraded to business class for the JAL sector back to LHR. We usually use LHR because we live about 3 miles south of the airport.
On my first trip to NZ in 1991 it was on a tighter budget and the cheapest flight was a multi stop bought through Trailfinders, they were the cheapest then. It was with Continental DC10 from LGW to DEN then DC10 DEN to HNL and B747 HNL to AKL. On the way back it was B747 AKL to LAX B747 LAX to EWR then DC10 EWR to LGW.
For us it's a shame that Air NZ no longer operate their own aircraft all the way to the UK so it's now a code share route to LAX.

Came across your videos while looking for details on the iniBuilds A300. Been watching several now, and this is quite a cool journey around the world. The Fokker F50 takeoff even got my heart going for example, and I've watched all the videos I could find you took on those! I would consider the Pacific Northwest in the US just because I want to fly on some old Beavers with floats. Maybe go back to Iceland to enjoy another 757 flight, then head over to Greenland to enjoy a Dash 8 flight on Air Greenland. Honestly, I'll just keep watching your videos for mode ideas. Do you have any buddies that partake in this with you? I'll have to look back at your video history, but what got you started on this idea? I've honestly considered doing the same, especially with travel rates down.

I'm going to go to Perth, because it is the (almost) the antipode of JFK, the nearest airport to where I live, making it (probably) the longest time I can be on an airplane from JFK. But, I would probably fly into Sydney, and ride the Indian pacific across Australia (I'm kind of a train nerd. Also, Never been to Australia.
TLDR: Perth, because furthest big city from my place of quarantine (I WANT TO BE THE FURTHEST THAT I CAN BE FROM HERE)

Having flown with both Safarilink and Air Kenya into and out of Wilson to various bush airstrips around Kenya, I have found that there really is no better way to travel. Both airlines have always given me first class service on all my flights. Many bigger airlines in both Europe and the USA could learn some customer service tips from both these airlines and the Kenyans in general.

First destination after the lockdown will be Portugal (Lisbon. A year ago I would have said London, but nowadays the Eurostar is a good alternative (if you can get the right fare of course) as it'll save you all the hassle from departing from middle-of-nowhere-port and arriving at London Stansted (which is as close to London as France is to the UK.

the reason why at Safarilink one has to board from the airline's launch is because at the main and only departure launch at Wilson airport gets over crowded and chaotic. Wilson is the smallest yet the busiest airport in East Africa. thanks for Flying with Safarilink. sad I didn't get to see myself in the video. though I've seen my colleagues.

We don't have lockdown here but infection is still around. When things are normalised, want my daughter and granddaughter to visit me from Nairobi. She is a KQ stewardess and could get a 10per cent flight to Malindi, catch a matatu across the road from the airport to Kilifi. She can't at the moment. Her job any age make it too risky.

Ill be flying to Paris to take my daughter to DisneyLand Paris for her first airplane journey and her first ever holiday! She's coming up 2 and I want to do something special for her birthday! Love the videos, thank you for the awesome content!

Kenya aint that bad afterall. Welcome Noel, at least not as bad as you thought. next time make sure you spend at least a week in Maasai Mara and get a trustworthy friend to show you around. that was just a fingertip. welcome back to Nairobi.

I'd love to go back to Japan - as soon as they'll let me in! Just as much history and culture as you will find in Europe, and if anything cleaner, more polite and safe, but with a side serving of complete culture shock.

Hi Noel, I should be taking this flight tomorrow from Wilson to Mara Serena. I have quite a bit of camera equipment so wondering how strict are they with baggage weight. I have my knapsack and duffel bag.

I done this flight a few years ago whilst on safari. You're right about Wilson airport, it is organised chaos, but just adds to the adventure. Watching brought back some memories. Keep up the good work

I'll be travelling to Kilifi in Kenya. It has incredible pearly white beaches, a rich Swahili culture, sumptuous sea food and the best lodges in the whole Eastern and Central African region.

Not often one gets a view over the captain's shoulder. And a lovely part of the world to see. :)
After things calm down, I'm hoping to fly to San Francisco with my wife. :)

I had the privilege od spending three days in the Masai Mara with my family in 1986. It is amazing. We flew back to Nairobi on a Sunbird Airlines DC 3 which was fabulous.

Often the safari vehicles waiting will do a loud run up and down the runway just prior to the landing to push animals away from the runway.

Ill be flying to Paris when these lock downs are over. itll be my third try and the first to time got cancelled, so third times the charm?

Where I will be travelling to after lockdown, Rio de Janerio, Dublin and Mallorca. thanks Noel for the videos much appreciated. :)

We don't have incidences because we are basically used to the chaos, in fact we find other airports dull and boring!
