Walking tour of Downtown Chicago starting from Michigan Ave. This audio was recorded in 3d with a binaural microphone for an immersive experience. Listen to the sounds of Chicago's busy streets and crazy traffic. This video wasn't really planned, but more just walking aimlessly around Downtown Chicago

It's so amazing feeling like I'm home-
in both homes at once- as I watch from my new place in California.
I can feel the thrum and smell the breeze carrying coffee and garbage and lake.
I can feel the sun, what kind of heat and warmth and light it would feel like.
I've experienced so many days there just like it.
My brain calls to mind all the sensations like a song I know by heart.
The feeling of being a soldier, the mutual pride in survival shared by passing strangers
because Chicago is brutal
and only reveals beauty to those who can push through to it.
The wide-eyed realism.
the tempered idealism.
A city of freedom that still exists on a grid.
The L passes overhead and I am standing outside Potbelly.
I am 13. I am 19. I am 24.
Always standing in the blazing sun, looking up to the sky with eyes squinted closed,
wondering if this feeling of impossible possibilities will last forever or flicker out with the light of day.
The answer is yes.
The city changes, but I remain the same.
I change, but the city remains.
Chicago is a feeling, a symphony of sensations, a memory.
It is math and magic.
It is home.

Traffic, smog, arrogance, not even 1 tree, rudeness. No one who helps homeless people, completely invisible to passers-by, sleep on the ground, or humiliate themselves by asking for a few pennies, from passers-by who do not deign to look at them.
As if they were a contagious disease and not like them, people in serious trouble. They get on straight with their overweight and fat-eating opulence.
And the comments say this is beautiful? this is great? this in my opinion is just SHIT.

Love the texture and ambiance of it all. Each one of those passing strangers has a story. I was in Chicago almost ten years ago now for a few days, also in July, and this brings back some bittersweet memories the way a song can remind oneself of a place and time.

Thank you for this beautiful video. For years I worked near Randolph and Wabash and walked these streets five days a week. I always did appreciate what a dynamic city it is and miss it a lot. Especially the walking.

Great video. I had a real impression of a personal walk trip in Chicago, without having to travel 8 hours. Consider this as the future of tourism. Please continue this 4K video+binaural sound walk series. Thanks again.

Ha! Ive been watching your videos for a while, wish I could have ran into you this day. That xylophone band is always right where I work. Somehow this made me appreciate my daily commute more.

It's great to be back again, at least virtually. This 2020 is being hard with the lockdown but I'm glad this video made me feel like I was there for some minutes.

I may have moved from Chicago, but it will always be my HOMETOWN. The sights, the sounds. the people. Like nowhere else on Earth. Thank you for this. I Love it!

If all Americans lived in cities like this there would be no obesity and suburbs and rural areas would return to nature and wildlife.

Pairing this with some VR/3D video recording would be pretty amazing. Throw in a treadmill (or very large room) and go for a stroll!
