WHAT! They brought Douglas Fir back across not only the Atlantic but all of North America as they are found in the Pacific North West, they don't exist on the east coast. Now, it's cool that you have the now, but, due to tree huggers, I can't go grow a Yew tree on Douglas Island because it's an invasive species, I'll listen to that crap when they get the rest of the world to get rid of all Potatoes, Tomatoes, and Chilies outside of Central and South America. that ain't happening. I'd love to do some hedgerows like you're working on but I've not been able to find a tree I can plant here that works.

Great to see a new vlog from you Mike I do love your vlogs and I don't know if this helps but when I was in army cadets some 25 years ago or more we were told military ration packs were designed to make you constipated so that if you were on the run in enemy territory you wouldn't have to slow down to go to the toilet and not going to the toilet meant you weren't leaving traces they could track you by, I don't know if this is true or not but perhaps someone with more army experience could clarify

All of the American MRE's that I have eaten had that kind of stinky hot steam. That would burn your finger if you did not fold and lay it down fast. May be the Brits bought some from the US. I hope your bean and veggies was not uor (sorry) fart and growler's chili. It is better if fermented three days then consumed with warm water keifer. Best of LUCK since your last bout of gut trouble.

Have you looked into the Micro ecosystems now being placed under powerline paths Rehabitating.
Creating small ditches and reservoirs to collect rainwater. Reintroducing indigenous, low growing vegetation and animals.
Adding berries, fruits and nature reserves for the public
Seems good and something we can learn new practices with tech and the old ways that still work best.

I really appreciate the education you do on trees. I live in a desert in the US Southwest and don't have a lot of exposure to most plants that the rest of the world has in abundance. On the few occasions that I travel to more forested areas I feel safer knowing the small but important details I've learned from you.

You look a little thin these days, almost gaunt. Understood, your tummy issues w/ E Coli likely made you lose weight, hope you're able to gain back what you lost, back to a healthy ht/wt ratio. Being too slender can put one at risk for immune issues. Nice video!

Yessss I love this series, glad it's back. I don't buy a lot of kit so but I try to get out on an overnighter every few weeks somewhere cool, you don't need much to enjoy the outdoors. I'm looking forward to the brown ta trekker bags coming back in stock though!

I like to do similar myself on my Ebike where i can travel upwards of 60 miles.
When it comes to wild camping or wild knowledge in general i'm very limited, but i enjoy the experience nonetheless.
great video, thanks for sharing.

What's the deal with firearms where you live In the US, we can carry them pretty much anywhere as long as we get a permit. Can you take a gun out into the woods with you, or is that illegal where you live

Why are all ration packs nowadays dependant on water The excessive weight of water required to cook these meals is another 3/4 kilos for the soldier to carry. They never used to be in the 1980's.

The US army heaters us to be much hotter and people would put them in a 1 liter bottle with just an inch or 2 of water. They would swell up real good and rupture from the pressure.

That was an awesome view to wake up to! I live in middle Tennessee and it’s so humid this time of year I would have woken up soaking wet from the dew with no cover.

If I did that in the California desert, I would wake up covered in insect and maybe snake bites. Some kind of bug net is mandatory here.

Good to see you out and about. A very informative and interesting overnighter. Those rations make mealtime much easier. Stay well.

None of those are 'mature' Douglas firs. they are adolescent at best. Mature Douglas Fir are at least 4-6 feet in diameter.
