Graeme, your video is well done. I am inland and can only find whiting frozen, but my 92 year old mother loves it. We found one of those packet seasonings that works well. What I wanted to share is what my mother likes with it. I make rice for three and just before cooking the rice I add to it about 5 slices of leek about 1/4 inch thick, a pinch or two of rosemary and a pinch or two of thyme. My herbs are fresh, but I suppose dried would work just as well. When the rice is done I fluff it and salt it to taste and some fresh ground pepper. I halve the fillets and put two on the rice as a nice looking serving. That's my mom's favorite meal and today's her birthday and she has asked for it tonight.

Its funny you should mention that old half an onion trick Graeme, My friends Grandma does the same thing when she has her house decorated The onion takes in all the odours from the Gloss and stops it from smelling so bad and get rids of all those nasty fumes. It really works and you see how much fumes the gloss paint lets off because the onion goes white: )

Great presentation. I just got some whiting yesterday at the market and I'll be pan frying them using your method. Next, I'll try catching some fish of my own. My neighbor brought me some wonderful fresh-caught catfish and it's opened a whole new world of food for me. Keep up the terrific work

Thank you for sharing. I see you love fishing and handling fish. You should come to my country and catch some tuna or other fish we have in the South Western Pacific: ) Thank you for sharing.

Nice video gramme, looking forward to the mackerel starting again there my favourite fish to eat, by the way is there a minimum size limit for whiting like there is for cod? Cheers

My wife and I both prefer Whiting over cod. We aren't catching any big enough at present just dozens of small starving ones. Hopefully that will change in the comjng weeks.

Great to see videos making use of the common species caught in these parts. Freshwater fish seem to be doing OK despite problems. Are sea species thriving again?
