Me and my hubby recently started fishing. With little to no experience, today was our second day and we caught a mackerel. we were so happy but someone swore up and down it was a contaminated fish called topsmelt. He kept bugging us until we grew very doubtful and threw it back. (our phone was dead so we couldn't even Google it to confirm what we thought it was) but now I'm dedicating myself to learn names and types so we can fish more. But I also want to learn how to properly kill and filet fish. Since I've never had family who did it. So thank you for teaching us who grew up with no knowledge

I was swimming along waiting for a few bugs to pop when this Aussie bloke showed up, baited me with chum, and then committed felony murder. I should have known the chum was a setup but once he reeled me in and bashed my skull in it with his priest beat stick for wayward boys it was all over. He ate and shat me within a day and then went on to make a video about it. I may be famous but it was far more fun having the lagoon to myself.

When i was young (around 13) friends of my parents had a rainbow trout farm, so whenever someone ordered fish, their son (same age as me) and I would go to the pond and fish the order. then we'd kill the fish with a big stick (same method as used in the video. no half-ass smacking, and then we'd gut the fish so this friends' mother could sell them fresh. Watching this video brings me back 25 years and brings back great memories Thanks

cool Thanks for posting. Love fish. grandfather fished religiously. even went out with him a few times during my summer youths but I never had enough interest to ask him how he prepares fish out in the wilderness. Now that i'm older I'm getting more and more into roughing it and taking his old poles out now that he has dementia. Great info to know, much appreciated.

This is a cool video, i like how you explain how to kill a fish, I'm sure everyone has seen people hit a fish and just mess it up so bad the fish is flopping around for ages and sometimes they wont be abl to catch it to hit it again and have to wait until it dies, the quicker the better.

Intro sounds eerily familiar yet satisfying as well, from French (awesome) horror movie high tension. Yeah, I will inevitably never accept an invitation to this neck of the woods where gps was never accepted. But I ll happily continue to watch from the safety small window on my device. Just playin tho.

The way I learned to kill a fish was to grasp it securely in both hands, with it's head forward of you and downwards. You want it upside down. Then essentially you just give it's head a good solid rap on the edge of a rock or edged piece of wood. Instant lights out.

You mean you don't spend all day to catch and release them for other predators? Thats insane You might hurt someones feelings by eating Seriously though, I always just turned the fish upside down and thumped it on a rock. I like your gadget though.

Did anyone else see the heart was still beating? I'm not here to wind anyone up saying it was still alive and it's wrong because I don't think that. I'm just very intrigued as to why after all that time the blood is still pumping around the fish.
