Hunt no folks not really a hunt. Its birds raised in cages en masse released to flood countryside being slaughtered as they are big slow low flying birds. That would be more appropriate title. Its not for sustenance or vermin control i consider pheashant shoots the weakest case in shooting lobby by far. Control in numbers of birds released and severe reduction in number of shoots allowed. Want to slaughter slow birds go kill all the poor chickens in massive sheds along Wye and Teme river valleys. Then we just might see a reduction in the mass pollution of Wye as Salmon river and Algal blooms and resulting de-oxeygenation increasing every summer. Shooting groups contain a cross section of society and types. Pheashant shooting on industrial scale is neither sport or environmentally positive folks. Take your own predujuices away and think it through vermin control yes but this?

You should never really have your safety catch on until you can see your target, and are about to shoot it. Having your safety catch off for the whole time you have your gun closed and ready raises the risk of an accidental misfire; such as thinking that you are safe when you're not and swinging down through a person. Turning your safety catch off so soon like that should only really be permissible in clay pigeon shooting. Not a good message to people starting with shooting.

While as an american I don't agree with all the gun/knife laws in the UK however I do completely agree with you guys on safety as well as etiquette. Not to mention that I like the way you guys dress for the hunt. It's a combination of looking nice while still blending in. I've never felt the need to dress up like I was back in the military. Would love to know where you guys buy your clothing for the hunt.

Wow. I thought this video was in the US, until I heard the accent. Enjoy the sport. For all those non-hunters. It's FAR more difficult than it looks. The birds have more than fair chance. I am very good at shooting clay's, yet the birds. not so much. Also, by law, we must wear safety orange in the US. Odd to see you out in the field in old school attire. Wait, what? Was that a Brittney? Fantastic. CHEERS

Awesome video I got to say it is really liberating to see people that actually know gun safety and traditional hunting here on YouTube. Guess those dogs had a blast The funny thing is that the dogs probably think this is what their overs do every time they are left alone at home: )Thanks a lot for sharing - Martin

I'm sorry I know he said about all the gun safety but you should not be stood next a road/ lane firing your shotgun. And if you were near one and you fired at game or pests than it should be right up in the air and not over the road because of the falling led.

A weird sport. Millions of pheasants are now reared specifically to be shot at, but lots of shot birds are just dumped, as most Brits never eat pheasant. And theyre so big and slow moving that theyre hard to miss, so not much skill required in blasting them.
