Log Cabin Life: First Night in the Off Grid Pallet Wood Cabin

I spend my first night alone in the Off Grid Log Cabin which we built from recycled Pallet Wood. Being alone in the woods in the tiny house was really something special. I felt completely disconnected from society and much closer to nature and the forest. With the woodstove burning and candle lanterns lighting the cabin, it felt rustic and cosy. Living off the land is something I am striving to learn more about. Now that I have this tiny cabin as a base to learn Bushcraft, Foraging and Cooking skills. As well as develop my survival skills. Temperatures were cold outside but the cabin was like a sauna. I had the best nights sleep I have ever had whilst camping. I enjoy some food cooked on the stove and open some subscriber presents that were sent to me. To watch the full log cabin build visit the playlist below. when I was twelve my family moved to the mountains to live in an off-grid community basically camping all the time. we were building a two story cabin from pallets but one night while we were gone the stove somehow caught fire to the whole thing and we lost most of our personal belongings, all the tools we were building it with and almost lost a 400lb propane tank but managed to roll it away from the fire before it blew. it was a harsh experience to lose everything like that but I learned a lot from those times and I still long for the cabin life.

What about wild life in that particular area? You really think such a place would withstand a bear wanting to dine on either your food supply, or you. I've seen what bears can do, and believe me, you would be lunch. We live in bear country. We don't have any city services, so people out here have trash/garbage sheds. Twice the bears have torn these tough built sheds to pieces. They completely took off the entire side of the building and the front door too. Locks didn't do a damn thing either. What you have is a nice little kiddy house. BE SAFE. THINK SMARTER.

I loved this, and especially watching you and your dad build the cabin together. Very special time spent together, and the finished product is just perfect My dad and I built my 3 yr old daughter a cubby house out of pallets, he bought colour bond for the pitched roof and made the centre pitch cover out of a strip of tin he hammered into shape. I made curtains on my sewing machine and she loved helping me paint it, the whole process was fun and lovely to achieve the end result. her happiest play to play.

I would put steel or tin sheeting behind the stove area so the wood dont catch fire if it is too hot. Also instead of a curtian, make a wood shutter like the table. Hinge it at top so it can be latched up to ceiling and dropped down to secure with slide bolts. Anyway, I love the cabin. Makes me want one. Sorry, I see you do have protection behind the stove.

Parchment paper can be useful to cook also. Tin foil can actually be harmful to you. Man, i sure do enjoy watching this guys feed. Just recently went vegetarian and when he bit into that bacon sandwich, I almost switched back, smh. So many savory bacon memories, oh how i long for just a wiff.

Wow I loved watching the video of you and your dad building this. This is something I wanted my husband to be able to do with a son but unfortunately life had other plans and we was only aloud to have a daughter. But I still hope my husband and daughter can do stuff like you and your father x

I know that I'm a bit late to see your pallet wood project as its August 27th 2019 but I have thoroughly enjoyed it and it reminded me of projects I did with my Dad. He's been gone since '96 but it was a nice reminder. Much thanks to you and your Dad. Robert Nweeia Port Jervis NY

We are very amased to watch your videos everytime. Watching your videos I also want to live like you. But I cannot do like you because in South Korea there are so many limitations to do so like not cutting trees and not making a fire. Thanks for making such a great video. Good luck

Was on an outdoor camping for 4 nights and all I used were candles. No worries of fire spreading. They die when they reach the bottom. U can sleep soundly. That size could last for 3 hours. But I Wana try the kerosene lamp although it's hard to find one these days
