In this Bushcraft Camp Update episode, we focus on improving the thermal convection of the super shelter. The large lean to shelter needed improving due to the fact that the size of it meant that the thermal properties were not very good. So I adapted a technique used by Canadian Wilderness Survival & Bushcraft instructor Mors Kochanski, which is a simple modification of his famous supershelter. You don't need many tools to build this part of the super shelter. Using just a clear plastic sheet, a log and a few nails, we created a screen down the front of the shelter which traps heat from the fire, similar to the greenhouse effect. This heat then radiates around the shelter to keep you warm in the winter months. It's a great upgrade to the bushcraft camp and I am looking forward to seeing how it performs during the colder months. In the original super shelter, Mors uses a mylar reflective blanket to radiate the heat around the shelter. Perhaps I might add this in the future to the wilderness shelter. The camp is really coming along now that I have spent more time here. With the addition of the new adjustable wood roof, it has made it much easier to control lighting conditions and keep the rain out of the bush camp. The hunting tower and ladder are still holding up well, although I wish I burnt the ends of the logs going into the ground similar to the ancient Shou Sugi Ban method to help preserve them for longer. The secondary lean-to shelter with moss roof is getting a little run down and needs some work. I would also like to move the log store away from the camp. I'm still not happy with the fire pit but this can be changed quickly enough

You guys clearly thought alot about the universe, but you also seem to get some stuff wrong. But totally fine since you are surely no scientists. This will be a very long and complex text, in which I will try to explain some things, so be warned before you want to read this First of all life on other planets: There is no possible way a humanoid species could have evolved on other planets in our solar system. By tracing back our own evolution, we all started as the smallest one-celled, bacteria type of lifeform. Considering that first lifeforms appeared about 4. 2 billion years ago and it took until 542 million years ago (thats 3. 7 billion years of one-celled life and 81% of the earths existence) for the first multi-cellular life and complex life to appear. While the earth is 4. 56 billion years old (as well as the other planets in our solar system) super simple life ruled most of earths history. Human like animals started about 200. 000 years ago, thats compared 0, 00004% of earths history. Im explaining that to show some values on how slow evolution actually works. And also complex life leaves such a huge visible impact and none of that has even been observed on other planets or in the geological record of earths history. Coming to the other planets, mars has been proven to have water on it. On satellite pictures of mars one can actually see old riverbeds of meandering rivers, as well as prehistoric coastlines on the northern half of mars. But do not get the hopes up too soon, flowing water has only been around for maybe less than 10. 000 years while the earlier phases of mars history. Which still is enough time for one-celled life to develop, but as seen on the evolution speed on our planet, no chance for comlex life to evolve in this short of time. Very soon the mars became so cold and inhabitable that evolution speed has even more drastically decreased or stopped for good. Still chances are, one-celled life exists in underground pockets of water and NASA and many laboratories are constantly working on how to find it. And where there is no water, there is for sure no life, so looking at jupiter or other cold planets wont bring us far. The next question was, why there are gases around saturn and jupiter. The answer is simple: during the formation of our solar-system lighter elements such as the gases have collected further away form the center and heavier elements in the center because of gravity. Thats why first 4 planets are rock and metal and the outer plantents of gas. And all the gas planets have gas rings. next question is what is behing the edge of the universe. The answer is, there is no edge. Its hard to imagine, but the room is indefinit. What has an end is the mass in our space. So if you travel far enough you will see less and less particles until there is actually nothing too see left. Kinda hard to imagine topic though. Last question was why do humans pray to the sky. Also I think the answer is pretty simple. Godly things, such as the Sun, the moon, stars, rain, weather, all comes from above. And the only direction, that humans can't reach is up. So clearly the sky has be reserved for supernatural gods and stuff like that. And my thoughts about the destruction of our planet: Yes the earth is completly destroyed. There has been so much C02 released in our athmosphere that maybe never ever again there will be a ice age again. But on short term this is hardly observable. We have climate record of maybe the last 100 years and lets go back to how old the earth actually is. Human species lifespan is so ridiculously short, that is does not matter in geological time. Recources will deplete and earth won't be able to support human life anymore in the near future, maybe a few thousand years. But in the long term, humans will go extinct in a blink of a second in earths time and earth will have millions of years to recover. Earth has recorvered so many times before from even worse incidents. For example 252 million years ago where 90% of all lifeforms went extinct and the end of the permian period but life has recovered in about 30 million years. A human life with 100 years is so unimaginable short compared to that. But after all its not a statement on whether destruction of our planet is good or bad, its just something to think about

Not sure if you'll get around to reading this. But it's in regards to your dad theory. I call myself an alienist. What I believe is that all the gods ever worshipped were aliens. That they came to our solar system and first stripped Mars. Then they came to earth and gave it an evolutionary nudge to develop humans. Now when they came to earth they each claimed their little section of the planet. The Egyptian, Norse, Greek, Aztec, Myans etc. Each used and helped develop humans for their own needs or desires. Now I believe the Christian God had a larger fleet but just wanted to run a small experiment with 2 humans. He wanted to create a paradise and give them everything they needed to see how they would do without having to do anything. But the other humans that were close kept influencing them and telling them about other gods. So the Christian God got furious, and because he was more powerful than all the others. He ran them off. He then proclaimed himself the one true God. Performed a few miracles through advanced technology. Like artificially inseminating a virgin with his seed. And hung around until his son was killed. Then he said screw this, these people are just parasites and left with his son. Now this is just a very condensed version of my belief. Just to way in on what you 2 were talking about. But it was a fun theory to listen in on. Love your videos. Thanks for sharing l.

The humans are not parasites in my mind, the one's who lead the humans are. The problem is we have never been taught better. I said the same in the past about humans and even that they dont deserve to live. I realised that we also have been taught to think negative about our own species, especialy by the media. Religions often tell us that the earth and everything in it was created for us and used to think that was a very arogant, parasitic way of thinking. But maybe they were right, maybe it was created for us after all, but in a way like your children are also yours, and its your responsibility to take care for them because you are the adult, the bigger, smarter and better person. We are one of the smartest species on the planet and if we use our brains, love and compasion in a good way everything will be alright. Like i said, the schools and media need to put their focus on learning the humans to take care for the earth. We learn very early and very fast its very normal to have a wife, kids, a job, a house, a car. We learn how we need to eat, drink and look. Basicly your whole life is dictated and its all good, it's normal. We should learn to coexist and it has to be as normal as getting your drivers license. (after all what matters more) When we are born we are pure, it all depends on the poisen we have been fed.

I deny the initial premise. You paint far too dark a picture of the present. We do need to become better stewards of our planet, but we are making strides in that direction, and the Earth is far, far from being completely ruined. We do not have an overpopulation problem. If all 7gigafolk in the world were gathered together with each person standing in a square 3 feet on a side, they would occupy less than 48 square miles. There IS a problem of food production techniques and distribution systems not being uniformly efficient around the world. And we need to change our production systems to be more sustainable, but that can be done while maintaining a high level of production. In the meantime, we are developing technologies for producing/harvesting/using energy that are better for the planet. The ability to harvest mineral resources from nearby asteroids is not far off. What's past the last star? Why, obviously it's Never-never Land. As for the other notions: basic aluminium foil hat stuff, really. (I spelled that way just for you) Saturn's rings aren't made of gas, but relatively small bits of rock and ice. Only Earth in this solar system has ever had sufficient conditions to support complex life as we know it for any length of time. We may go TO them, but we did not come FROM them.

Hello guys. I am a 63 yr old woman and totally enjoy this series. In fact i stayed up all night long never went to bed until the following day. I was born and raised in the Caribbean and relate to the many ways in which you operate outdoors. I live in the United States now, but the woodfire and the taste of outdoor cuisine cannot escape my mind. My dad was a carpenter and so was my husband. I would spend long hours watching them and helping when i can. You took me back to all that. At times there were laughter because you guys might have said something funny like your reasoning on the extinction of life on other planets due to mankinds negligence. I love how you kept improving the structure with dad's help. I love the various bush craft tools and how you explained they purpose. I also watch that cute cabin that was made from pallet wood. I loved it when your dad caught that rainbow trout and cooked it. That was so cool. I so love the aroma and taste of fresh fish. Thank you both for these wonderful and educational videos. You mentioned a quick meal your mom had made with the eggs seasoning and bread crumbs. I noticed that you did not waste the tiniest morsel of that. Iknow it was good. I am going to try that. awesome.

Honestly your theory kind of does make sense. For all we know we could have migrated from Mars after destroying the ozone. Then move to Venus because the Earth was not habitable at that time. Cause massive global warming that's why it's now the hottest planet in the solar system. Then moved to Earth since it was now habitable. And every time we moved from one planet to another we have literally had to rebuild from scratch causing our history of the events or memories forgotten because we it literally at one point went back to the Stone after coming to each new planet. For all we know the whole Adam and Eve story could have been an original backtrack. Saying that we actually just migrated a few males in a few females to restart our population. And technically Noah's Ark could be something completely different. It's actually really good theory. May be untrue maybe not. And you guys are not the only ones who have thought about it. For I've actually thought about that as well.

Interesting theory, but I think for the most part we already understand what makes up a lot of our solar system. I wouldn't really say our solar system, because our system is really quite microscopic compared to the scale of the universe. The naked eye can barely even see but like 1-5% of our local galaxy. Outside of our system, no I wouldn't be that surprised if some other lifeform has done something like destroyed itself. Not a great comparison, but I remember reading about such stories in the game Mass Effect when reading about what has happened on certain planets. Where there were one or two species that actually destroyed themselves and it's planet due to nuclear war and pollution. I do kinda believe though that we have made contact with aliens before, as most cultures depict this in some way. That maybe we evolved because of them. I guess you could call interventionist evolution. That these god myths are actually sort of misremembered accounts of alien interaction.

Now what's past the edge of the universe? What I believe is that it's like a membrane in a plant cell. Holding together our universe. Pass that membrane is Another Universe with a membrane. This membrane holds our universe together. You know how they say the universe is forever expanding? Well what happens when you fill up a balloon? It keeps expanding and expanding. I don't think it will expand till our universe pops I think it will expand until the two membrane while touch causing a massive energy. A massive explosion. That literally resets the universe. Hence the theory of the Big Bang comes into play. You can't create energy out of nothing. Nor can you destroy it. It could also be that the energy coming off the two membrane walls cladding causes a unfathomable amount of electricity ending up going through each Galaxy and star like a lightning bolt. Like how a neuron in your brain lights up. Which Speaking of that is how the clusters of galaxies look.

I think Up is and has always been associated with Good or Growth you always hear The only way from here is up or Up, Up, and Away. etc even since the dawn of man there has been an interest in what is above us the Great fire in the sky or Why is the sky blue? Luna all these associations with looking up or being up, wondering what is above. Humans have dug, found earth and even more earth. down is stale. Up is still a vast mystery to us so it stands to reason that our prayers or thoughts or thanks or what have you should go upwards into the unknown. I want a raise. you exclaim to your boss. Ya know, things are really looking up now-a-days. you'll say to your friend. It's very difficult to keep looking down or thinking down. being down. it's only when you can look up that you can see a brighter future and gain a sliver of hope in what seems like a quickly deteriorating world. brought on by ourselves. those dang catch 22's.

The rings around Saturn are from a moon or moons, that has been ripped apart through gravity, Mars has lost most of its atmosphere from an impact that has left an enormous hole on one side and a crack and large volcanoes on the other. The canals never existed and there is no evidence of simple life let alone intelligent life. Humans have evolved only once on earth. Science fiction movies have not been very imaginative since most sea life and insects look more alien. Humanoid aliens are from the human ego. Humans can only evolve with the same ancestors, mutations and environmental changes through the eons and I doubt that would have happened on another planet in the galaxy let alone our own solar system. The human race may be the only intelligent life form in our galaxy. Simple life like bacteria may exist on Mars or on moons around Jupiter and more recently Saturn. However still no evidence yet.
