Off Grid Log Cabin with Moss Roof - Cruck Frame Shelter (Overnight Camp)

I head to a bushcraft log cabin in the forest which was built as a cruck frame shelter. I do an overnight camp and explore the forest with Ben and Lewis from BandL bushcraft. We start work on the cruck frame shelter as soon as we arrive in the forest. They started building the off grid rustic log cabin just over a year ago and its come along way. As their bushcraft and shelter building skills have developed, so has the cabin. During the afternoon I set up the polish canvas lavvu and the boys set up their shelters. As evening draws we get a camp fire going and cook lunch. When it gets dark we move the camp fire into the tiny Log Cabin that ben and lewis had built and we cook up more food over the fire The next day we awake to fresh late autumn weather. We then scavenge for hazel saplings with the axe and use these as wattle to create the wall for the cruck frame shelter. This gives it all a stronger foundation. In the later stages of the day we use birch logs to create the rafters for the roof, which Ben and Lewis will eventually put a moss roof on to make it a living roof. On the inside of the off grid cabin Ben and Lewis have decided to make raised beds using some large logs and flat pieces of wood, this will be an ongoing building project. Follow them on

3: 17 and 4: 26 your hammering the nail through the full solid piece of wood, you should be hammering it through the one thats had a grove made into it coz youl only be hammering it through a couple inches and have the nail go into the next piece of wood further, rather than hammering it into the one thats not had a piece cut out of it because now your having to hammer the nail into the wood thats 2 times thicker, meaning the nail wont really come out the other end into the other piece of wood to make it hold XD if you dont understand then pause the vid at 4: 24 exactly and youl see the left log is wider than the right one thats had a grove made into it, your hammering the nails through the left log which means your nails arent going through and into both of the logs to hold them together

Young generation are utterly useless today. Give them playstation and games you dont see them. They getting dummer by year. Society is taking its toll on humans with all latest technology and the will to live of the land building shelters ect will be like enginering 50y from now on to teach pepole how to be self sustainable. I salute young generation going out in the eild and do something vonstructive with their time.

Well, heres my 2 cents The lads in this video are very respectful of Mother Nature and their surroundings They are not causing any damage, they know what they are doing believe you, me They know the rules and regulations and adhere to them. no need to fret And also the laws in the UK are not the same as the US or Canada or whatever other country So, shut your holes, and just enjoy

Hello I always see your videos and I always wonder what brand your pants are and where I can find them, could you tell me what brand they are and they could suggest similar brands of pants. I saw that the tall boy's pants say EG, but I can not find anything, I would really appreciate if you could give me information or some recommendations, greetings from Mexico.

Guess you don't get below freezing where ever you are building the camp. I would advice you to cut down living trees for building material and peel them. That way the frame on your build will eventually dry out and last a lot longer. Anything you sink into the ground, you should burn. Burning the surface prevents rotting of the poles.

Im curious with all the venting in the cabin how would you fair in real cold weather. Does is stay pretty well insulated or does it cool off quickly. Id love to build something like this with some friends on their land so we can camp all year round. I live in western New York so we get some crazy winters here.

I know this aint all about head torches. But just a suggestion, the Armytek Wizard Pro is the absolute best, brighter, longest lasting head torch Ive came across. With one 18650 battery it will last 88 days on low. And several hours at 2300 lumens high. Just sayin

Only two things I'd make suggestions on. first is flatten the striking area of your mallet. The other is carve it down to make a handle. Would be a lot more efficient without someone having to risk being whacked on the hands or wrists with a giant ass log.

whats with there being 2 5. 5 min commercials in a 30 min video. you need to play with your utube setting my friend before you loose viewers. I would have left already after the first one except im interested in this lil cabin.
