This was fantastic, I camp with the family usually in tents, but I think me and the kids will be practicing this in the fall and winter here in texas, we love being in the desert and arid areas, not much wood, but I believe we can rustle up some mesquite, plus burning mesquite pods keep a lot insects away, like masquitos and flies, Im not just Mexican but also from the tribe tarahumara, growing up me and my father camped out in the arid climate of Mexico and texas in the middle of summer eating different variety of cactus and yucca, mesquite pods, grinding the seeds down for a sweet tea, people worry about snakes in this area, but they are just an easy good source that you can easily fish with the heat of a campfire

What is the purpose of any of these shelters? Aside from the last one as a camping shelter. Too much expenditure to be survival shelters; and too non sheltering to be good camping shelters except #5. #4 had a tarp so good for that but to make those beds takes a lot of energy. Not efficient. If the point is to just enjoy building I get it but, if I'm camping I'm taking camping gear. If emergency survival shelter. None of these fit the bill. #5 teepee does if you have a tarp but nobody has a woodstove in an emergency. Nor animal skins. Just Sayin. I did enjoy the video. I just question practicality.

I love your videos and I'm not trying to say anything against anything you do just one thing I have noticed in my personal experience instead of digging holes to place logs and tamping in around them if you use a slightly smaller diameter log and drive it into the ground leaving yourself the ability to pull it out and then using that hole for your structure I promise I mean no offence just my own opinion I'm a huge fan of your videos

Thank you for this Mike. It is always wonderful to watch you and Dustin (and your dad) come up with interesting ideas for shelters and outdoor activities. We appreciate all your time and effort. I hope your canoe trip goes fantastically for you and that the bushcraft show was a smashing hit. We'll have lots of time to review previous postings while we await your return. Can't wait to hear about your many adventures Cheers from Flagstaff, AZ

I love your shelters, simple and effective is what keeps you alive. Getting ready to hike the presidential range in nh this year and hoping i won't need any of these. Im so jealous of your soil, up here I'd need a 10lb sledge to pound those stakes in and they'd probably split before they went deep enough. Damn granite. Keep up the great work

Just want to tell you my family loves watching you guys Your dad, Dustin, you and the dogs. You have inspired my family to spend more time together outside. Also wanted to say take negative comments with a grain of salt. Some people just like to be rude. Keep doing what you do. Thanks

The wooden cup thing. you have two different. Is that some thing you make yourself or is it something you buy? Either way, if you would give some information about it I will be happy. either where to buy or a mention about how you/some made them or a vid about how they are made.

awesome. especially 2nd one. Do you think it is possible to strip off a load of strands of some kin of bark with a draw knife and weave it into a kind of tarp? that way you can have it under your dried pine boughs and leave it up as a natural biodegradeable shelter
