I just found out that you can convert thermal heat to electricity & rig it up to a mppt charger for your Jackery by placing it over the fire. Basically it entails hooking up several if not more TEC Peltier modules that are around 40mm x 40mm x 3mm thick in series sandwiched between an aluminium plate an an aluminium box to place ice water in. When the bottom plate gets hot while it is suspended high above the flames of the fire or sitting on top of your portable indoor fireplace then it will also heat up the opposite side of the aluminium box which you place ice into & this will create a combined high voltage & high wattage that then goes into your mppt charger that then plugs into your Jackery box.

Idea: Collecting seeds (Cones, Wings, Pods, Husks and/or others pending the specific area. Show how to grow a sapling / young tree. In due time (year(s) planting said saplings. You're already doing planning in the year scale.
We need a massive effort to help alleviate the growing climate disaster. One of the ways are trees and lots of trees. With the effort and energy seen coming out of our governments (worldwide) we won't be able to reach the level and scale needed to combat the situation at hand. Perhaps if enough people knew how and what to do we could stand a chance.
Love the show.

When I left school I went to work in a timber yard. My job was to put the winding sticks in between the fresh green cut boards. I had to get five sticks evenly spaced and straight across before the older blokes were ready with the next board. The first few days were hell as they never slowed down - time being money to them. Crushed hands and arms, bruises like dark plums and so cold in Winter under a Dutch barn. We'd burn sawdust in a barrel, brew tea and cook sausages. Hard work but great fun. I envy you your youth - seize the day!

Well mates. another fine mess you ve gotten yourselves into! Ha Ha! Just kidding. Those planks you have are worth a lot of pounds! The posts alone are worth 30-40 a piece, maybe more! Love to see dear old Dad at your side! Smart painting the ends. I can t wait to what you do with all this fine ash. Hope you kept the smaller pieces for handles and spoons. No waste! Love from NW Colorado. Thanxz

We had 3 bad storms, too, in mid-Germany, one big tree felt on our lumber storage shelf and we had to immediately re-locate 3, 5 m3 of dry firewood, which was a hassle.
I really like those huge planks you made with the sawmill, it is a pitty that you split them in half instead of using them as a whole for like a desk, a closet or a bed.

Clamp down a straight edge the width of your base plate to the blade also set the depth of your blade slightly lower than the depth of gear you're cutting.
By doing these two things first you will have two good edges plus you will get longer life out of the battery.
All the best.
Love the show.

I wonder if you could use one of those fireplace fans that convert thermal heat to electricity & rig it up to a mppt charger for your Jackery? If you could series connect 3 or 4 of those fan bases to create a higher voltage then it would be able to charge non stop over night on the fire or fireplace.

Teaching about craftsmen working in the forests is as important as teaching the basics of camp craft. and is equally interesting. I am hoping you will build 'Ashcroft', a successor to the seldom-seen pallet wood cabin. I hope this time that there is more room to properly install the G-stove system.

Mike I have loved your stuff from the beginning. I have to say that I am sad to see this tree cut up, it would have been a great base for a super shelter integration. However. there is something that tells me you and your dad will do right by nature and put it all to good use.
