I wanted to make a living rain forest in a glass house using moss and plants collected from my woodland. I built the moss terrarium in just a few hours and I love the way it looks like a mini forest in a jar. I collected a number of species of moss from my woods. I also took some tiny ferns and some stones for hardscape material. For the substrate I use equal parts of coir, vermicast and lava rock. I built the vertical moss terrarium using these simple materials from nature. TA: I have a confession - I am addicted to making Terrariums! It s been a huge hobby of mine for a while now. I just never thought about filming it. Well here you go! Hope you guys enjoy it and if you re inspired get out there and make one yourself. It s a great way to pass the time and learn more about nature in miniature form! Let me know if you want more content like this? Cheers for watching! - Mike

To help prevent mold and fungus build up add springtails to your terrariums and paludariums. but make sure you add leaf litter to the soil and to the terrarium surface as well. This will provide food for the springtails and any isopods you add. Springtails and isopods are detritivores. They ea decaying material and the fungi and bacteria that feed on them.

Isn t this fun! I live in. Lake community here in the States. Moss grows many places here as well. I ve done pretty much the same and love seeing the environment evolve. I grabbed a couple of glass vases and globes from the thrift tore and started a few of my own. Just looking at them gives me such comfort and peace.

Absolutely awesome. My hobbies other than bushcraft stuff, are aquariums and terrariums. Bringing a piece of heaven indoors is always helpful to the heart, soul and mind when you just can't get away.

my snake died a month or so ago so was considering turning her terrarium into a plant terrarium, it has a heater so i could do tropical plants i would need to seal off the vents though

Water condenses, it doesn t condensate, forming condensation on the glass. Just saying. Still a very interesting and instructional vid. as always.

I once tought doing this. But I'm just too invested in my 40 gallons high tech heavy planted aquarium that looks like a south-asian stream lol

A very niche hobby that requires considerable attention to detail - I'd imagine quite soothing, too. Great miniature forestscapes on show.

This is great, thank you for doing this.
I can't see the UK links in the description though, if you could add them that would be great!
