A filthy, cruel city for the rich only. Soulless. Nothing like Armisted Maupin's literature about it. Whatever that was, it died out after 1983 or so. Swamps of homelessness everywhere. An inhuman, insular city (racism from all directions) and quite homophobic. Middle American cities are much more gay in practice than SF. You will be called a faggot here and you will not see men holding hands or risking getting beaten by homophobes here, almost not even in its disingenuous gay ghetto, well a ghetto for rich gays only (yes, I'm gay. Oh yeah, filled with arrogant identity politics addled THIEVES everywhere. As mentioned, you can't leave anything in your vehicle. The City stinks of piss and public defecation in the various downtown neighborhoods. The City does NOT clean up after itself with any vigor. The sidewalks are all stained and grotesque with human medical waste biological impromptu experiments. Nothing says, I hate you, more than the City of San Francisco. One of the funniest things about SF is its so-called gay pride parade (eyes rolling. The parade is mostly empty because the city charges participants thousands of dollars to participate as a float, so you might have football field lengths of no marchers (you aren't allowed to march simply because you're gay. You have to pay some exorbitant fee to march The people watching is meh (There are not many good looking San Franciscans, especially compared to fabulous and REAL New York City. real even after gentrification. There is an antiseptic feeling in the air when it comes to sensuality, which does not dovetail well with the smell. The Folsom Street fair is more sensual but in a FORCED nosebleed kind of way. Very disappointing city. Maybe if they ever bring socialism back, it could be better; but it's a city for the selfish, arrogant, twats at this point. If you're RICH, there are a LOT of excellent restaurants there. I live in Oakland and our restaurant scene by comparison is hit or miss, which is another California thing that is irritating.

As a Bay Area resident of 20+ years I can attest that San Francisco went exponentially from Bad to Worse in just past 5 years. Real estate and cost of living prohibitive prices drove out the locals and majority of the middle class. Now the city is dominated mainly by the East Coast transplants that brought their self-entitled attitudes with them. The city has the sense of community no more. Newcomers treat the city as their personal amusement park with zero care to locals, elderly, families. The city officials are more preoccupied with attracting tech giants than cleaning up the city. Police acts as social workers vs actually enforcing the law. SF has the most homeless - homeless people in US. There are homeless in all major cities, but then there is Shutter Island level in SF. Customer service is mainly horrible, prices are way too high for anything, restaurants and bars will employ the dirtiest tricks in the industry just to keep the overhead low. Union Square is swarming with hookers from East Bay and their pimps. Street crime is all time high, you car will get broken into, you ill get punched, robbed, and in some areas right in the center of the town you will get killed by a drug addict. If you care about yourself do not take Bart. The open drug usage, needles, human feces, urine took over. Stay away from Townsend --> 5th Street -- > Market and Market 9th Street back down to Townsend Quadrant. Stay away from Polk/Post/Tenderloin, Bayview, Parts of Mission, Potrero Hills. If you want to see South Central in SF go to Sunnydale Avenue. If you want to be safe, stay away from about 80% of SF, just stroll up and down the Embarcadero. I predict that in the next 5 years the city will be ran by Salesforce and Google, and the rest will be just visiting.

There is another side to the city and it is ugly. In our last, and final visit, to San Francisco my family had to endure the following: as my wife was getting our three year old son out of our car to have lunch in China Town, a homeless man walked up to the passenger side of the car and urinated on the wheel. I yelled at him and he just laughed. Later that same day, while walking to China Town, a homeless man lunged out of a doorway and attacked my eleven year old son. The man was swearing at my son and growling. On our way to watch the Chinese New Year parade, every doorway we passed smelled of urine. The final insult was having to step over human feces on the sidewalk. All of this took place in 1994. We have never gone back. Now look at the city. There are actual poop maps showing the worst areas for poop covered sidewalks. There is a reason the city is decaying. Do you know why?

I have been visiting the Haight-Ashbury district, Market Street, Golden Gate Park, Richmond District and the Financial District quite frequently these past few months, and haven't seen ONE needle or human waste on the floor. Some people (many who haven't even been to SF or visited the past few years) are GREATLY over exaggerating about the issue like 90% of the time you're gonna see a needle or human waste randomly lying around somewhere. Every time I visit SF, it's a pleasant experience for the most part. I hope the homelessness/drug crisis gets worked out soon though, as SF it too beautiful of a city to have that reputation as a whole. With that being said, MOST of SF is not what some people (news media) is painting it out to be, and this is all from PERSONAL EXPERIENCE. I've visited quite a few big cities in my lifetime, and San Francisco is still one of my favorites.

Frisco is the name given affectionately to the city by people who were born there, and I know what I'm talking about. Using the name Frisco fell out of favor in the 1980's with the PC mentality that took over. The city has turned into an overpriced hell-hole unfortunately. I miss the city that it used to be. When I visit I pay hommage to my Grandfather by visiting the house he built in 1908 in the Noe Valley. The place still stands, and is now worth over 1. 4 million. Very curious because it was built by a poor Italian man, who built it out of wood that he found from old abandonned cabins from the Gold Rush period.

Ina coolbrith park - really nice view of SFSutro baths - faces west towards the pacific. twin peaks - nice skyline legion of honor - a museum and has kind of cool architecture lovers lane - theres a zig zag pattern made with tree logs; nice for portraits pier 14 and pier 7 - nice view of SF if you are near embarcaderoCalifornia and Powell - walk in the middle of the street using the cross walk and you will get a nice view of the bay bridge behind 1 market street. No it is not Fisherman's Wharf is a Cesspool bombard with expensive souvenir clothing stores, and Crappy Galleries, not to mention loud wanna be musicians with plastic empty cans, and let's us not forget the homeless, mental health outpatients and RUNAWAYS panhandling. DO NOT GO ANYWHERE NEAR THIS PLACE We went to San Francisco this year for our honeymoon (from Ireland) this place is absolutely disgustingl we where meant to stay here for a week then travel we ended up only staying for 2 days, this city is a disgrace Drugged up dangerous Homeless people everywhere with what comes with that, human feces, needles and even stabbings We seen a guy running through traffic totally off his face in his underwear yelling It was like something out of an apocalypse film

I have a great friend who lives in the Tenderloin. Of course it's a hardcore part of town, but, he doesn't cower in his apartment. He has a great time in the city. I live in Cambodia so I haven't been there in 4 years. I suggest to any visitor to explore SoMa, North beach, Chinatown, the Marina, visit Alcatraz, Delores Park, Valencia street, Golden Gate Park and it's attractions. San Francisco is still great. What you'd rather be in Cleveland? Hahahahaha
