I thought you are only afraid to fly over water? I used to be so afraid of flying that I would hyperventilate and weeks befo my flight I couldn't sleep at night. This all has changed when my husband (retired Air Force) would explain to me every time how a plane flies, how it is so much safer than traveling in a car and that the pilots also want to come home. The planes are so much safer than 20 years ago. I flew in Feb. 1970 with Lufthansa on a 747, it was the return trip of the first flight. Only a few month ago did I learn how much trouble they had with the engines at that time. You know there are classes for people that are scared of flying. You fly a lot and it is pure stress for you when you are uptight the whole time. LOL I could tell you stories about my flying that would make the hair on your neck stand up but also funny ones. I cross my fingers that you will overcome your fear Oh, something else helped me, I told myself being afraid is not going to keep the plane in the air

First, to answer your question. water for pre-departure beverage. One glass of champagne with my meal followed by an Amaretto di Sareno on the rocks with my Earl Grey tea and dessert. Im not a huge alcohol consumer. Just to share thoughts. My Virtuoso agent and I are busy planning my trip to South Africa. I will fly Lufthansa MIA/FRA/CPT to start off with. As I am soon to retire, the points game is less important to me than is service. IMHO LH does an outstanding first class service and their first class terminal in FRA is a restful haven for me (I always look forward to collecting the latest LH rubber duckie from my bath during layovers. British, sadly as you noted, has really had a fall from the grace it once was. I wouldnt even consider flying BA business as its now become nothing more than a glorified premium economy product. That said, out of JNB back to MIA I am thinking more Swiss than British Air. Its just all about inflight service to me.

Wow. Amazing BA lounge. If one is not careful they may go overboard with the food and drinks prior to boarding. Beautiful Airbus. I agree with your observations about BA's first class looking like a business class (it's nice but on the plain side. Not as luxurious as Emirates or Lufthansa. Nice that the airport has a long runway. Nice aerial views from Johannesburg. Cool Ottoman and IFE (responds well to finger presses and has a good selection. The meals were nice. Disappointed BA eliminated appetizers considering you pay quite a bit of money for first class. Pretty nice landing. Great job.

Oh I would go for the ChampagneActually the interior looks more like Business Class than First Class, compared to other Airlines. The textures are very cheap looking. and drab. The food looks like it was microwaved, not very fresh, nor appetizing. I should know I am a chef. those vegetable were not roasted. lol. Personally, British Airways does not make it to the top 5 airlines I would fly first. Not impressed. However I do thank You for making this video it truly informs one what they may expect on First Class travel on BAThank you

Crikey. Whoever said the business class looks like a prison is being kind. It looks like a public toilet. A clean public toilet granted, but still somewhere you only go if you really have to. Primark in the Sky. But whose kidding who? Flying is now so cheap that how can these flag flyers stay in business? Air France, Lufthansa, KLM -all of them are living on borrowed time. At least BA are making a profit. That means they are still in the real world and not some wanna be Emirate subsidized foolishness.

I have flown BA international first class two times (no other flights were available) and did not enjoy the experience. The first time they pushed a cart down the isle and offered me casserole dish of beef, chichen, or fish. It was like I was sitting in economy. The second flight a few years later were much like this flight. Not much if a choice and wasn't presented well. Again I was disappointed. Like the cake and strawberry compote in this video, it looked like Business or economy class food.

Ok, I had a question for anyone that has been on the A380 with British Airways. It looks like all the window seats are facing backwards is that correct? Are there any that face forwards and if you book on British can you tell if your seat is going to be facing forwards or backwards? Is there any best seats to get. I am looking at going to London and it looks like the A380 is the choice. Other appears to be 747 by American, not sure if that is still the case or not.

With all your flight videos I knew you didn't like a few aspects of flying (over ocean) but I didn't know you have a fear of flying Same here, for me I need to be seated next to a window no matter what, and that's if I fly altogether. I'm like B. A. Baracus from the A-Team, gotta knock me out before I board. I think if I could fly business class or first, I'd be OK, but would still be nervous. What do you do to keep calm and relaxed on flights?

I always had the impression British Airways was a bit worse in the cost-benefit. Looking at this First Class it kind of really seemed to confirm that. The food options aren't really worth of 1st class but that would still be acceptable if the seat themselves actually gave the impression you were at First Class. This looks like Business or even Economy Premium equivalents. That 'First Class lavatory' also didn't look convincing.
