Read here my review of the 12 Apostles Hotel & Spa Stagger Lee: The noise from that road never stops-a demerit of the hotel and you can hear it when he's in the bedroom. This may also look like apartheid to naieve viewers, it isn't. The rich have always insisted on apartheid where they live, relax and stay abroad. Try Jamaica. It borrows heavily from the Mount Nelson Hotel example: owners who are familiar with overseas' know what foreigners want. To get away completely, it's more about the stress you're leaving than the place you're going, but that better be okay. This hotel is very, seriously, expensive, in case you don't realize it. Cape Town is dangerous, a high murder rate, high Aids, high male and female prostitution druggy city. Make the most of those exterior walks beneath the Apostles, it's quite safe. Table Mountain itself is very dangerous, especially for hikers and mountain-bike riders. Beggars plague all parts of the city, similar to San Francisco, and more menacing. The artwork as in most South African hotels is appalling, but their currency is too weak to go to auctions in London. This is worth considering if you can afford it but depending on which age you were from at the Mount Nelson you would have seen Earnest Hemingway, Agathe Christie, Hitchcock, right through to members of any John Cleese show, rock stars etc across the room at breakfast, as well as European royalty which you and the staff wouldn't have recognized: Habsburg, Hohenzollern. Romanov, Esterhyse, D'Este, you name it. Cape Town has always been a close-kept secret for the upper echelons. Nice to see several single people there. By the way views are breathtaking, not 'breathless' (sic. Take advantage of all courtesy buses from the tiny little airport and avoid Cape Town itself, quite a sleazy, grimey little town which is really a disgrace as a national capital. Give me Miami anyday.

Yes, Uou are an expert. I've been in one of the most limportant hotels of Mauritius. Not as a millionaire guest but as a trainer for the staff. Well, they gave me a suite and a complete service just to show me how they were learning how to treat clients coming specially from South Africa, Germany and Italy. All for free. Just a detail. I was some bored by noise of Indian Ocean franging on the reef in front of my suite. Bye.

I am a big fan of a blue and white colour scheme. There's so much you can do with it, vary the shades of blue, the shades of white, vary textures and metallic finishes. Welcoming and crisp at the same time. Also I like the human size of the lobby. The only thing marring the stunning beauty of this place is the highway. But I guess there's no way around it. There it is.

The sea is absolutely freezing, the Aghulas Current comes up from Antarctica and you will feel your skeleton inside your limbs for the first time. Cape Town is unswimmable, especially Camps Bay. The golden beaches are for tanning, nothing else. The first swimmable beach is up in Plettenberg far up the coast and the Garden Route is a little safer than Cape Town.

WAY too close to the highway. I wouldn't spend 100 USD a night to stay there. The horn honking IN the video while on the balcony was the tipping point for me on that one. No way I would be relaxing listening to the romantic sounds of traffic flying by my suite.
