Sofitel Legend Metropole Hanoi (Vietnam): a review (+ Halong Bay tour) 6falconsue: Not only is the hotel beautiful but the cruise around Halong Bay was magnificent. Worth the long ride from Hanoi, I'm sure. Your series on Vietnam has been most enlightening and moving to me. You are a gem, DocP. S. What? You and your red suitcase came to SFO again without calling me? Shame on you-lol Will be interested to see that flight vlog since my round trip flight 2 yrs ago from SFO to Paris and back on United wasn't very pleasant. Of course I was in economy: -(

What an amazing place. You can still feel the spirit of its history. IMO the Metropolitan historic looked more appealing to me than the Opera Wing. How many days of staying would you recommend in Hanoi to do the most important sightseeing spots? Maybe a combination of some sightseeing and afterwards a nice place at the beach sounds good. Maybe you have some advice.

We love staying at the Sofitel Hotel Chain and this one looks absolutely amazing. We stayed at the Sofitel in Ho Chi Minh City and hopefully when we visit Hanoi in the future we will get the chance to visit this Sofitel too. Enjoy the rest of your Sunday and have a good week ahead Best Regards from Maxi and Maro in Copenhagen, Denmark.

This is one of the best, if not THE best, videos you have ever done. The visuals, the editing, and the music are all stunning. I have to admit I was moved to tears for how you portrayed this historic hotel and amazing country. Your videos are so much more than tours of rooms and restaurants. Thank you for posting and I look forward to many more.

The French have an expression of pleasant surprise ah the splendor of French architecture. Even though France colonized Indochina including Vietnam, they have left a great legacy there as well the introduction of the great Western culture. Apparently Vietnam embraces and adapts quickly well to the West.

So as this hotel is owned or managed by a French company and stuffed full of Western boutiques and staffed by Vietnamese who earn a pittance serving and cleaning-up after the predominantly Western clientele, does this mean France and America actually won the Vietnamese wars after all?

Probably we were in the same time in Vietnam and Hanoi. What a pity I didn't know my favourite trip reporter. As always a beautiful video. Although Vietnam is gorgeous, Hanoi, in my point of view, was the weakest point of my journey through this beautiful country

What a great old world charming hotel. A very well laid out video. The outside of the Opera, reminds of the Hotel De Ville Paris. Halong Bay is breath taking. Were you able to take a 3 day cruise or just a day cruise?

Just returned from staying at the Sofitel in Macau. We stayed in one of the Mansions and wow, we had 2 floors of opulence, private pool and just wonderfulness The Sofitel is a nice brand under the Accor label.
