Fun fact: Lake Washington is about 200 feet deep, hence the reason for a floating bridge over it.
Lake Washington is classified as a mountain lake even though it's pretty much at sea level (about 10-15 feet in elevation.
During the summer months, it's a fantastic lake to swim in.
Yes, I do swim in the Sound during the summer as well. If you know where and when to go, the water can be surprisingly warm.
If you get a chance, drive on I-84 in NE Oregon during the day. You'll have spectacular views of the Wallowas. Or better yet, GO to them and do one or two of the hikes there. You won't be disappointed.
Also, visit the Oregon High Desert. This whole area is above 4000 feet, is part of the Great Basin and very few people ever visit it.
During the spring, the desert flowers are in bloom. If you can rent a 4-wheel drive vehicle, head to Steens Mountain and do the Mountain Road for incredible desert scenery and places even most Oregonian never go to. Make sure your car is has a FULL tank of gas as stations are very few and far between. Also, the weather can change drastically on a dime, so be prepared.
There are also very scenic drives you can do thru the Blue Mountains in OR. Not many people go here and they were considered a formidable barrier to the early pioneers.

Well I just watched the whole thing. I have always wanted to make a cross country road trip and this is the closest thing to doing that. I hope to make a trip like that for real some day. Connecticut to Seattle. I figure it will take me five days, but might stop for a day or two in either Chicago or the Twin Cities.
The most exciting part of this drive was definitely the Rockies, but I also loved Oregon and Washington, as I like that part of the country. The most boring part, for me, was eastern Kentucky, along with most of Indiana. Most would say western Kansas, but I didn’t think that was so bad!
Your altimeter seemed to be off by about 30 feet. The lowest point in Washington is at sea level, but your display showed minus 16 feet in Tukwila, just south of Seattle.
I found it humorous that after driving over 3000 miles, Washington, DC to Sea-Tac, WA, you close out your video at the rental car return.

Well, I did it. I watched each day's videos all the way through. I am almost seventy, live alone and do not drive. My traveling is going to the grocery store once or twice a month. So, these videos kept me entertained for a long time! My favorite state is, of course, Virginia. The Shenandoah Valley cannot be beat. But, I also thought Oregon and Washington state were amazingly beautiful. I was surprised at Snoqualmie Pass. The elevation was around 2500 feet. Two or three miles outside of Snoqualmie the elevation dropped to around 850. My city in NC has an elevation of almost 900 feet. Yet, Snoqualmie is in the Cascades Mountain range. I live in the Piedmont region of the state, not even the foothills. That really surprised me. Thank you so much for sharing these videos with us. I really enjoyed watching them!

the flat area in Umatilla county. interesting account of how that came to be. during the Genesis Flood, what became North America was racing west at around 50 miles per hour, as the continental mass slid away from the rising Mid Atlantic Ridge, meanwhile, a smaller ridge was rising in what became the Pacific basin, as the continent slid over that ridge, it snagged in Oregon, quickly melted, and caused the curved flat area that covers parts of Oregon, Idaho, and ended in what is now the Yellowstone area, that is why the eruptions of this caldera in the past were so much more powerful than now, in fact, it is doubtful that the Yellowstone Caldera will ever erupt again.

Thank you very much for the great trip. I was able to see places again which I had not seen for many years. And many places I've never seen before. What surprised me on the last leg was that in May there was snow at less than 3000 feet. I find that quite unusual. I live here in Switzerland at about 1800 feet and here the snow line in May usually rises to well over 6000 feet. Now that this trip is over, I have to find a new one to get me through the night. I hope you continue to post such great videos. Many greetings from Switzerland.

I watched the whole trip. Thank you for making these videos they are great to watch. I have them on while I study and it's nice to see how beautiful parts of America are. The Rocky Mountains were a spectacular site. I hope to drive LA to New York one day as a reward for finishing my studies. I have a few questions. Do you do these trips as part of your work or fun. What car are you driving and finally what's with the pants on the dashboard half way through the days lol. I wish you safe journeys on your future adventures.

Hi, loved the video! I would recommend on your next trip up to Washington State taking Canyon Rd (Sr. 821. from Yakima into Ellensburg. It takes a little longer but the scenery is worth the extra few minutes! The highway winds its way along the Yakima River in a narrow gap canyon. The towering hills on either side are gorgeous. Lived 5 years in Kittitas County and spent a lot of times exploring the area by car!

I actually don't mind the night driving part. There is something peaceful about the early morning start with little traffic on the road, and then watching as the sun gradually rises. Feels so clean and fresh. A new day beginning. Of course you don't get to see any scenery at night so that's the downside

Day 4 is done. USA from east to west. From Washington DC to Washington State. Today again 800 km. That makes altogether 4920 km. 40 km difference, but that fits. Thanks for the very nice ride. That makes you want more. Best regards from East Germany / Thuringia

Excellent driving. Very steady. And although more time consuming than your speeded up versions (which I love) you do get time to look at the scenery.

I'd guess the driver in the green car was either Bigfoot or a caveman.
