This is day two of my west coast road trip (San Diego to Vancouver, done in real-time and is virtually unedited except for stops. This begins in Aptos and ends in Crescent City in California. This includes the drive on PCH from Aptos to Leggett, where PCH ends into US-101. The link to day one of the real-time road trips: The link to day three of the real-time road trips: The link to day four of the real-time road trips: The link to the whole west coast drive in 4x time-lapse

You know, if you're out of road trip ideas, you can just do some of the older ones again, but this time backwards. There are plenty of places where it will completely different. Like the one where you drove from nebraska to l. a mosty on two lane roads. Those landscapes were sick. I would definitely watch that trip in the other direction. Also if you make some future plans from the commenters, i have a few of those, too. I would love to see some footage from the western part of north carolina, around the "dragon's tail" road and mt. mitchell. Basically around the highest parts of the Appalachean mountain. And i heard there are some beutfiul lakes there aswell. Another one is the north-eastern parts around mt. washington in new hampshire, and the area around allegheny n. forest in PA and nigara falls. But my all time favourite has to be washington. Mt. St. Helens, Mt. Rainer, Seattle, Olympic National Park. I love that state. If you could do some trip there i would be very happy.

Hey! I really enjoy your videos! As a NorCal native, I couldn’t help but recommend a way for you to see the redwoods in the coast of Mendocino county, some of the towns inland, and come back out to the coast just a few miles up the coast highway.
If you turn right at 5: 56: 12, highway 128 takes you right through the redwood forest. You can stop and hike through Montgomery woods if that’s your thing, or taste some wine at the vineyards along the highway. Follow 128 for an hour or so and take 253 at Boonville towards Ukiah. Head north on 101 to Willits and take highway 20 out to the coast, which connects to highway 1 at Fort Bragg.
It’s probably not worth a whole trip to Cali for, but if you ever find yourself in the area again, I highly recommend it. Lots of cool scenery and cute towns. It adds about an extra 2 hours of driving but I think it’s worth it.

My wife and I are from Australia and we are planning a driving trip to the USA next year. Your videos are an amazing resource and some are exactly the same drives we are doing. In order they are:
1. San Francisco to Santa Barbara to Three Rivers to Las Vegas
2. Las Vegas to Grand Canyon return
3. Tampa to Savannah to Asheville to Blue Ridge Parkway to Washington then to Strasburg
4. San Francisco to Bodega Bay to Crescent City to Portland and back via Bend, Klamath Falls, Lake Tahoe and SF
Thanks so much for all you do.
I loved the graphic overlays on your videos. I have purchased a VanTrue Dash Cam to use in the rental cars we will use. Is there particular software you use for the graphic overlays

The drive through Monterey county in the last video was gorgeous. I want to one day take a trip up the PCH California sealine, but I live on the east coast (Atlanta) so that makes it difficult. By the time I got out to San Diego to make the trip north I would be so tired of driving that it would probably spoil the whole thing, nevermind that I don't have a vehicle that I trust enough to make such a trek. One day, maybe. Ive often thought about flying out there and renting a vehicle to take the trip, but that would likely cost a fortune. I guess for me driving down the Florida coastlines are much more realistic.

I just finished Day 2. I grew up in Southern California but know very little about anything north of the Bay Area. There are people in that area but not so many as to the south. There were a lot of places to see. I was fascinated by the redwoods just south of Crescent City. Another big tree in California is the Giant Sequoia. If it gets enough water it can grow in yards and on university campuses here in Utah. and it gets pretty big. The climate is very different in Northern California. Up close to the Ocean it's rainier than I thought. I did not notice the redwoods on your time lapse version of the trip

I drove CA 1 from SLO to Santa Cruz a couple weeks ago. bucket list item. Got off at the very same Aptos exit to gas up. Was headed for the Chevron station on the right at your first left turn but wound up in the wrong lane and went to the Safeway across the street. Thirty cents per gallon cheaper at Safeway. Ended up back at Chevron a few minutes later for something or other. Attendant was very lonely.

When I leave the east coast hopefully in October and get back home to Long Beach, California. I will be getting around to see more places in California as well as the other places in the pacific part of the USA that I haven’t been to since 2008. Once some of these pandemic restrictions are lifted.

Has anyone asked what kind of car you're driving Are these rentals mainly If so, Id recommend an Altima. Great fuel economy on the highway. I drove from SFO to LAX and then drove around for 2 days on the same tank. Gas light came on when I was almost back to the rental return at LAX.

All 3 west coast states California, Oregon and Washington have a ton to offer, see and do there and it's often hard to choose what to pick to see and do in each of those states with only so much time. They're all 3 beautiful in their own ways.

ah, Humboldt, my old stomping ground, I miss it so much in some ways (in other ways not at all, but that drive, especially around 8hr30min - 9hr30min mark, damn it is nostalgic. thanks for posting the videos!

You deserve a medal for recording and uploading these trips. It means a lot to handicapped persons who would love to make this journey but are unable to do so. Your videos are the next best thing.

Day 2 is (finally) here. I am so excited. But i got one comment. I noticed that when you do road trip you start at 5 am in the morning. How do you do it. Do you sleep in the car

Was one of the reasons your west coast drive was the most tiring of all the long drives you've taken was all the sharp curves you had to go around on for long periods of time

19th Ave in SF. Never a fun drive. I live a little south of Daly City, and I will always take 101 through the City and out Lombard to get to the GGBridge.

I can't believe how big California is. More than half of the entire drive takes place in California.
