BILOXI: Forget What You Think You Know About Mississippi Thank you for presenting and posting this video along with the one from Gulfport, MS. I am a filmmaker that lives here in Biloxi and really appreciate the work that you have done. Other videographers such as, Watching The Watchmen, want to travel to places and record outside establishments without ever having a purpose except to get confrontational footage by making the residents and business owners feel uncomfortable in their own daily life. You have presented a fair and honest view of the Gulf Coast here in Mississippi and all of the other places in this wonderful country that we all share. You should be very proud of your work and we thank you. Safe travels.

Interesting in the late 90s getting around the detours for the Key Bridge in Baltimore you could see the remnants of Bethlehem Steel. Guess she was one the first sacrifices of our industrial base which I recall beginning in 1976; starting with the steel Mills. You reminded me of it with the light house. Lived and worked in Southern Maryland for many years. Not surprised the light house has weathered so many storms. Our forefathers were pretty amazing.

I was in Mississippi a few years back. Tupelo, Corinith, northern part of the state. Sadly, didn't make it to the coast. I still chuckle when I think of this, but more than once I was chatting with a local and they asked me where I'm from and why was in MS. Almost to the letter they exclaimed, And you came to MISSISSIPPI of all places! I'm sure it's a big joke there. Nice state. Lovely people.

I was in Biloxi for a technical school in 77( i think. Only there for a few weeks. Went to an amusement park near the beach. Im guessing Katrina took it out. I keep wondering where on 90 it was located now. Moved her permanently 5 years ago and LOVE it here. ( being raised in SoCA I do miss the sound of waves though)

Thank you so much for this! I’m from New Jersey and looking to relocate to possibly Mississippi or Alabama so this is super helpful. It looks unbelievably quiet there for a beach town. Atleast compared to what I’m used to in NJ. What month was this recorded in

I went to Biloxi when I was around 14, 1963 with the family. My father was an insurance agent with FULICO, and they had a convention there. We had never been further away from Memphis than Little Rock, so going to Biloxi was a real treat.

I went to ATC School at Kesseler AFB when I was in the army in 1969, just before Camllio hit. This brought back fond memories of my youth their. What a beautiful beach. At that time the water was to dirty to swim in. Has it cleande up

This is also the sight of Antique/ Classic cars week. All along the road from Biloxy to Gulfport folks checking out classic cars, sitting drinking cold drinks watching cars antique and classics driving around. Awesome.

I traveled through Gulfport and Biloxi in 1969 about 4 months after hurricane Camille hit. It was another category 5 hurricane and the devastation was unbelievable. I am surprised anything is still standing

Biloxi is a military town. Keeesler AFB is the main training (bootcamp) base for young airmen. You are missing it if you do not visit the back bay and sight see the northern parts of the town. So much history.

It’s very different from when I was through in 2011. They are still some rebuilding from Katrina. I love driving along the Gulf from there to NOLA, it’s one of my favorites.

One cool thing about that stretch of beach is they let you shoot fireworks anywhere on the 26mi of coastline! Not much more freedom than that.

You need to visit Destin Florida. INCREDIBLE white sand beaches. Unfortunately, too many people discovered the secret of Destin.

It's a Navy CBs truck. They mast have taken it from Gulfport CB base to Keesler airforce base in Biloxy.

Too bad they run busy streets right along the beautiful shore. How can you enjoy a beach with traffic noise
reply

you can walk out to that gazeebo. It will only be up to your waist. The gulf is shallow for about 2 miles out.

There were no white sand beaches in Davis's day. All those beautiful beaches were man made. Back in the 60's.
