For some reason I never liked the expression travel like a local as it elevates the local as someone who's automatically more interesting and knowledgeable of their city. From my experience at home that's not always the case, some of it is personality-based but more often than not locals get bogged down by routine or complacency to explore. Couchsurfers tend to be heightened locals as they have a curious disposition and often times are expats so they have a perspective of novelty. Finding local experiences through CS and other random interactions is what puts the stamp on my experiences in a place. It makes me feel I've forged a unique path based on my personality and whims.

Hey Vagabrothers I love your videos on YouTube and I think I have seen each video at least 3 times. Anyway, I am going to Paris this July for a month but will have about 36 hours free between the end of my school and my flight back to America. Do you have a recommendation for a place to travel for that time? It'll be July 30 - Aug. 1 (morning.

This video is really neat I'm actually in Paris this week as part of a study abroad program, but since it's mostly academic, we are going to cathedrals and museums to study the plethora of art and architecture here. But this has given me lots of ideas for later travels too: ) cheers

Awesome video you guys Last time I was in Paris I took french classes and stayed with a bunch of other students. You're so right that it's great to see a non touristy-side of Paris, I have great memories of wandering around the streets and just having different adventures

I just got back from a trip to France and this made me want to go back so badly I miss the food I was lucky enough to stay with my friend in Versailles and I agree, staying with a local makes traveling anywhere a more genuine experience.

Once again, you guys nailed it I took French classes for about 4 years and I've always wanted to travel to a Francophone country to test and improve my language skills. This video was short, but very inspiring.
