NOTE to ALL: FCA poor quality is a misnomer, and you do yourself a disservice. The truly bad Chrysler vehicles were all DESIGNED during the Benz era, and since theres a 3 to 5 year lag between design and production, you are looking at anything post 1998 but pre 2011 for the most part. I own two 2014 Ram Promasters, one with 410, 000 miles and the other 380, 000. Both have Pentastar 3. 6 V6 engines, both have 6 speed autos that have been in production since 2003 or so. Its a minivan drivetrain, and its pretty close to bulletproof. This Durango has a PROVEN engine, and a PROVEN ZF 8 speed. The rest of the Durango has been in production for years and is generally reliable. Chryslers are also some of the cheapest vehicles to repair on the road. Parts are notably cheaper than Asian companies. Cat for a Promaster = 300. Cat for a Camry = 900. I also own a 2015 Fiat 500 Abarth, which has been shockingly reliable. Its 1. 4 turbo engine is also found in the Dart, 200, and Jeep Renegade. So, you can just SAY that FCA vehicles are unreliable, just like you can SAY Fix It Again Tony, but it doesnt really mean much. Do some research and get back to me.

A few things, Any of these vehicles today, how much of this tech do owners actually use? Do you play with it every day? Find what you like and never touch it again? Leave it in stock mode because you never read the owners manual and have no interest in the tech? How many waste gas on a daily basis by using launch control at every light and how long willl that last? Of SRT buyers how many will actually go to the track to use the track functions? 5% maybe? Think more like 1-3% at most. For 2019 you can get the SRT front end on lesser models and engines so you wont be so special anymore if you spent all that money on a true SRT. Buy a 5. 7l with the SRT nose, get a stand alone tune, over drive pulleys, maybe cams and the brake kit from a hellcat and pocket 15k.

My only suggestion for Alex is to try to include an observed highway fuel economy number. Thats the only number that really matters. The actual city number doesnt matter because even though the number is low, you dont drive that many miles. The number we want is highway, level ground, summertime, 70mph. That number allows us to compare one vehicle to another, and its the important number to know if you rack a lot of miles and buy a lot of fuel. In many cities, I could spend 8 hours a day in the car but only go 30 miles total, so who gives a crap if it only gets 10mpg. I only went 30 miles. But if Im clocking more than 100 miles a day, its gotta involve a highway, so then I actually care.

This vehicle really is the only one of its kind. But I dont understand one thing: How come all of a sudden VW Atlas simply just disappeared from all the 3 row midsize SUVs comparisons? Even in this video, when Alex is talking about the size of the vehicle, he completely just omitted the Atlas from the chart while still keeping the Santa Fe (which is much older vehicle and will be soon replaced by an all new Santa Fe XL) while knowing the fact Atlas is actually selling more than that Santa Fe. How come? No one noticed that?

This car is way better than most SUV out there. The driving experience is very close to a German luxury SUV, with a properly tuned rear bias drivetrain, properly balanced drive. On top of that, they didnt skimp on the suspension as you will get Mercedes M class suspension (carried over from the Daimler-Chrysler days. It is too bad that Dodge and many FCA brands in general dont carry reputations like other brands sold in USA. Because the Durango is a very good car.

A crossover is just a car based SUV. Nothing more. Thats the way it always was. It has nothing to due with truck based characteristics, and it never did. Because it was a crossover between a car and an SUV not between a truck and car. Its SUVs that have truck based characteristics, not crossovers. Plus the engines are from cars, not trucks. The hemi it uses is the found in the charger and challenger.

I test drove one this weekend and we absolutely fell in love with it. We are waiting for the 19 with the integrated brake controller. The wife is even willing to trade in her jk Rubicon lol. We drove the RT as well but found ourselves wanting more of the SRT fun. Our concern is reliability. The lifetime care Max is Not available on the SRT models if we go RT this might be the only reason

Alex, I have a Citadel V8. I like how silent it is on the highway. Is the SRT exhaust really annoying on the highway? Also, is the R/T suspension really stiffer than the Citadel? I dont like soft suspension of my Citadel, I prefer something like the 14 RX 350 F Sport. This is why I am looking at the R/T or SRT, to get stiffer suspension.

Great review. Im actually looking at one. The 2019 is totally the one to get. Didnt know about the brake controller. But the 2019 also comes with bronze wheels as an option and upgraded stereo. Also you can get it to seat 7. Just option the middle row as a bench and there you go

If THAT is a crossover, so is the Range Rover, RR Sport, and Discovery5. They are just not. None of them. A crossover is a car-derived vehicle whether in body or mechanically, whether two or four wheel drive. Something like a Nissan Qashqai/Rogue Sport or Honda CR-V
