THE huge selling point for the Tucson Hybrid (and PHEV) is that, in the Limited trim, you get the Heads Up Display. Only this car (and the soon to be released Sportage Prestige) is the only choice in this class with that feature. I'm surprised that you didn't comment on the HUD during your test drive. It's really VERY well implemented and is able to integrate with Android Auto and Apple Car Play navigation. Being a somewhat anxious driver, my wife won't consider any car unless it has an HUD and she's thrilled with having downsized from her 2022 Santa Fe Calligraphy to the 2025 Tucson HEV. It's too bad that you didn't mention Baby Mode which is an option in My Drive. It significantly smoothes out acceleration from a stop, great when transporting kids or pets. Also, were you aware that, other than in Sport mode, the paddle shifters are for changing the level of regenerative braking Although it won't completely stop the car (like with iPedal driving, I find that braking in levels 2 or 3 feel extremely normal and have added to the amount of time that the car can stay in EV mode (especially in start and stop traffic.

After a lot of research and test drives, I waited and bought a 2025 Hybrid in the Fall of 2024. for many of the reasons described by Alex. Performance, size, room, features, warranty, etc. I like the styling of the Kia Sportage more, but light interiors were impossible to find. The Sorento’s ride was harsh to me. And several $ more. The Tucson is a great car and no regrets. I’ve put 3000 miles on my 2025 limited. Why am I only getting 32-33 mpg (Maybe 70mph highway driving mostly. The tech is impressive (maybe too much to learn and utilize. I am disappointed that the hood doesn’t have struts on the Limited trim. I haven’t found the blind spot cameras that useful because their location on the instrument panel is not natural for me to switch between looking at the camera and my mirror. (I miss Honda’s cameras of ten years ago on the display that could be turned on at any time. That being said, after 6 months I am very happy with my purchase.

Fantastic In-depth review. I owned a 2022 Hybrid Tucson and now Own a 2025 Tucon top trim PHEV. Love it! Especially They changed the shifter and with the rebate was cheaper than the top trim hybrid. Didn't like the push button in the old one. All the upgrades are an improvement.
First of all you have to know how to drive a hybrid system to save on fuel. If you have any bit of a lead foot. The turbo will eat up any fuel savings. It is such a smooth snd quiet vehicle. Even though i have a PHEV i run the engine every day for a couple of minutes. I can get almost 2 months between fills with a smaller tank. Thats because my daily usage is around 36miles. I only use a level 1 charger. Not worth it for me to upgrade to a level 2. I'm pretty sure you will be happy with whatever model you choose. They are nicely equipped. The warranty is fantastic. One more note with a hybrid it will also save you on maintenance. Brakes last so much longer.

This is definitely one of the best compact cuvs
Crv Tuscon Sportage cx5 cx50 are the only truly competitive cuvs
The less said about the rav4 both the current and next generation one, the better as those other cuvs are actually competitive and well executed: the competition including the tuscon is cheaper AND better. The competition lets you have your cake and eat it too, which matters more than who makes it.
The tuscons best in class. If a rival is not well executed how can you call it a choice in the segment when it doesn’t anything well or better than the competition What’s the point of a couple extra mpg and mythically better reliability on the rav4 if you have to sacrifice too much from the comfort to interior space to build quality to tech to driving experience to AWD capability to price tag etc. Being more reliable doesn’t make a car more comfortable or practical for families. It doesn’t work that way

Thanks for the in depth review. Great job. I recently purchased a 2025 Tucson Limited hybrid model and everything you stated played in to our decision, but the one thing that was not mentioned is the number of features that you get with Hyundai at lower price levels that its competitors. The CR-V only offers wireless Android Auto and CarPlay in its higher trim levels and the Tucson has them in all levels. The Limited has heated and cooled front seats, heated back seats, head-up display, 360 camera, panoramic sunroof and a few other options that many of its competitors don't offer at similar price points. So this bang for the buck factor was a huge incentive.

If reliability remains consistent then this is on top of the hybrid a longside with the crv and sportage. The Rav4 is due for an upgrade which we cant tell what they are gonna do, but I expect good things if the camry is any indicator.
The cx-50 is designed to be a turbo for sportier driving. Mazda also tuned the hybrid to somehow be a bit more sluggish than Toyota which is odd. Sluggish, droning, cramp and still drive harsh is a weird combo for a comfort-oriented vehicle.

I was in a muddy field with my RAV4 Hybrid towing a utility trailer a few days ago. I didn’t feel like it was revving or spinning the front wheels to power the rear wheels. It probably draws from the battery first, plus the planetary gear power split allows engine revving without necessarily driving the front wheels. It was also in trail mode, but I’m not sure what that changes. I do think the interior has too many hard plastic, but I get 45 MPG easily.

Drove new Sonata recently, the interior looks the same. Really liked it: the large (curved) CarPlay screen, and the well thought through set of physical buttons and displays for things like climate control, parking camera etc.
Glad they kept the massive panoramic roof - I drive a 2023 Tucson Hybrid and it was one of the reasons I bought it. Beautiful on a bright day.

It’s one of my favorite options due to how much space is in it for the size. No real complaints with the interior or feature set either. The only catch is making sure you have a respectable Hyundai dealer nearby which isn’t a given. I’ve heard more ridiculous horror stories for warranty service from Hyundais dealers than other brands.

Not bad, current dashboard looks pretty similar to the ioniq6 I rented last year which I was on the fence about. Aside from the keyfob, which is also similar and mine was very scratched up, decent materials. MPGs though would still make me stick with a RAV4, always get really good MPGs without trying when I've used them as loaners.

I live in an area that gets flooded several times a year, I know you just shouldn’t drive on flooded roads but here is my question, driving the tucson on ev only mode through water, can you get hidrolock or because you are running on ev you can probably save the day and keep driving Im talking 8-9 deep for example

As long as the temperatures are in the positives (Celsius) and I don’t drive harshly, I can easily get 40-45mpg on my drives with my 2025 Hyundai Tucson n line hybrid, with winter tires too! Mpg does go down quite a bit if you go above 100km/hr significantly (110-130km/hr will drop to mid 30mpg at best.

The Escape hybrid might as well have been discontinued years ago. I was car-shopping and looking for a possible alternative for the RAV4 hybrid, and could find no inventory of Escape hybrid even back in 2023.

The missing spare tire still a deal breaker, no matter what they claim with their so called tool kits, if the tire gets damaged beyond repair you'll end up stranded.

Does it still have the quick stop, oh hey no traffic it's clear let's go and a delay. 2023 Santa Fe Hybrid in Eco mode. Not as bad in Smart or Sport modes.

If there is enough space for a spare tire, why the hell doesn't Hyundai provide one Are they too tight Otherwise looks like a good SUV but I'll pass.

Just bought a new leftover 2024 Hybrid blue for 30k. While I love the discount, I got on it. I'm really like the interior of the 2025 better

The column mounted shifter is what all cars should have. It’s out of the way and easy to use. Gives you more space for stuff
