traded in my 2015 Accord EXL for this on impluse. My family has drove toyotas and we have always loved them, I had a corolla for 12 years and never an issue, so I was not concerned about my impluse decision. My Accord was a great car, I just didnt not like the uncomfortable seats in my Accord, the styling and comfort of the Camry along with the toyota reputation sold me. I wish I would have let the car be out longer, to see what others were saying before I bought this. Dont let the looks fool you. The car has a clumsy transmission that jumps around and searches for gears, if you have to jump on the gas it takes literally. 2-3 seconds before it kicks in, so good luck pulling out anywhere in a hurry. The engine is loud and rattles like a 10 year old car. The gas door wont open if its the least bit cold, I have had this happen several times this winter. There is no satelite radio, or cd player. The radio is of poor qaulity or the doors are not sure which but even when on low there is a rattle with the least bit of bass in a song. It is listed as having a precollision warning system. I have yet to see do anyting I am begining to think its more for looks. My Accord would warn you when you were too close, this doesnt light up, slow the car or anyting. I basically think its a feature that does nothing. I had a guy stop in front of me 2x on a 70 mph interstate, the car never made a noise, blinked, or reacted. The entertaiment system if thats what you call it is horribly setup, and not userfriendly in the least. Its very archaic. Over all I can say I am exteremly disappointed in this car. I feel that Toyota is hiding major flaws and cheapness in a pretty exterior and some nice interior materials, but once you begin to drive the car its evident its not anyting close to an Accord, nor ever will it ever be. If Honda had not ruined the exterior design of the 2018 Accord I would be trading Camry for one, for now I am waiting until I find something I like to come along, once I do I will gladly be unloading this car. As a family who has always loved toyotas and this was the 4th one we have purcahsed wihtin 17 years. I strongly discourage buying a 2018 Camry.

301 wow. What is the base MSRP without the upgrades, and with the upgrades? 35k is still too much for a camry when you can get 2-3 year old top dollar fully loaded American vehicles for mid 20s. A few observations: Trunk space is really to small for the price and purchasing demographic who probably have families. For the price the interior seems subdued and not the quality of the higher end ford fusions. The steering wheel looks smaller than average for this segment and the front seats look like they dont have enough space for anyone 6 and over. The rear styling looks excellent, the front not as much. The engine only getting 22 city is really not good enough, and they should have reduced hp or engine power even 10-15% to get city mileage up to 25, and highway up to regular 35 as gas prices will be rising again in the next several years. I feel the newer camrys interiors are also too stiff, and the rides are a bit more bumpy even if the handling is still good, Ride and Cabin Noise are extremely important for long distance commuters and the fact you gave them a B- means they didnt do enough to improve it. Speed, style, and average mileage wont make up for small trunk space, cabin noise, and interior comfort and space.

Another solid review, Alex The TNGA architecture that Toyota uses is absolutely phenomenal(and yes, right up there with excellent Honda and Chevy) and serves as the Camry that Toyota should have built to take on the Accord(in handling performance) at least 2 decades ago. I test drove an XSE V6 and was blown away at the step up from my current 10 SE V6. I deplored the step-back in style and quality that the 12-17 Camry had, and held on to my 2010. I agree, the platform is begging for an even sportier trim with grippier tires. and a manual trans The 8spd is an improvement over the 6spd, but I found it still ever-eager to shift to its highest gear, for obvious fuel economy reasons. And yes, in 2018, Apple Carplay/Android Auto is a non-negotiable for many. Overall, this car is very nice and serves as the reason why the Camry is the only midsizer putting up positive gains in a world full of CUVsSlight favor: On future reviews, would it be too much to ask for as-tested pricing on your testers?

Ive owned this car for 4mos and will fill in my input from personal experience. This ride is a dream to drive and transmission is smooth and seamless. What I like the most about this car is ability to start vehicle from anywhere in the world, 360 degree camera, powerful, panoramic sunroof, jbl system, spare tire, and overall looks. What I dont like about the vehicle is lack of ventilated seats/heated steering wheel/memory seats, and most importantly ENTUNE 3. 0 is a disaster. There is a connectivity issue with the app which requires you to reinstall the app on your phone every few days. Check the reviews on play store and app store if you dont believe me. Toyota is aware of the problem and hasnt addressed it. If I knew about the problem I wouldve went with Accord. Not being able to listen to Pandora in a 35k car is ridiculous.

Toyota has trouble with their styling for years. Either very boring or downright ugly. The only aspect of the styling I find pretty hideous is the face, but thats not something to skim over. The rear is very handsome, but it also looks a lot like the Altima from behind. Blah. The interior is at least distinctive, but the interior design doesnt say sporty to me. If anything, it says Avalon. I dont like the look of the new Accord any better. The Japanese designers are struggling these days. With all that said, I do appreciate the engine choices in the Camry are naturally aspirated. I hate this trend of being forced to buy a turbocharged car. They add mechanical complexity without actually delivering better economy or power, which I thought was the whole point of manufacturers switching over to smaller, turbo engines.

I sure wished that Toyota would have given the Camry a heated steering wheel (Altima and now Rogue have this option, memory seating, adaptive front lighting (an option on the hybrid model so, it can be done, and LED fog lights with a turning corner light feature. The Japanese version of the Camry has LED fog lights and they help to take away some of the polarizing effects the big black grill has in the XLE model. Even though the headlights scored an A rating at iihs. org I still think that fog lights have their place and make a difference, especially when driving in the rain. Im not a big fan of that big grill on the XLE trim, (so glad the Camry didnt get the new Avalons front grill though. YIKES) but the rear end of the Camry just looks so very attractive to me that it allows me to see past its front end.

Hey Alex. you mentioned that the Camry has direct injection. The specs on the Toyota website says that its a 3. 5 liter DOHC D-4S Dual Injection. engine. In fact. all of the Toyota engines (I believe) are listed as Dual Injection which, of course, includes direct injection. The Hondas are all Direct Injection only. Anyone whos looking to buy a car for a long time (over 60, 000 miles) is a lot better off getting the Dual Injection engine because the intake valves arent going to have to be sandblasted or ground after extended use. Since so many manufacturers are going with Direct Injection nowadays, can you please point out those who do use Dual Injection? That would be a help.

Now that the current Accord has a butchered design, and Mazda 6 not even offering a V6 engine, the current Camry is a clear winner, I was never a big fan of Camry for the longest time as it was more of a family sedan rather than a sport sedan not to mention the sub-par designs, but this one clearly is much improved and has transformed for the better. As much as the automakers try to maximize performance & fuel economy by attaching a turbo-charger to an inline-4 engine, nothing beats the naturally-aspirated V6 smoothness and instant power delivery, and mostly likely only giving up 12 miles per gallon.

In early January when I was shopping, Toyota dealers near me didnt seem to have as many XSE V6s in stock compared to Hondas 2. 0T Accords. I test drove a v4 XSE but never got to drive a V6. Then I went to a Honda dealer and drove the Accord 2. 0T 10AT Sport which had most everything I wanted in power and convenience features. To avoid the Toyota tethered phone navigation system I would need a v6 XSE with navigation which is 4k+ than the Accord 2. 0T 10AT Sport w/ android auto nav. The Accords I wanted were on dealer lots so I bought one instead of waiting around for a rare V6 XSE to show up.

Not everyone can lay down the money for anything that they may want. I have owned Accord, Camery, and VW all in the same price range. The Hyundai Sonata has proven to be one of the best mid size cars (owned 4 Sonatas) on reliability, warranty, performance and style. Both the Honda Accord and Toyota Camery have taken styling advice from teenagers with their polarizing looks. Hyundai has come out of a shaky start in the 80 to take a major chunk of the midsize market in the past 20 years. They deserve to be considered in the comparisons with Honda & Toyota.
