For 2019 Jeep updated their compact utility vehicle with a new exterior, a new engine and the latest uConnect infotainment systems. The new 2. 0L turbo engine is one of the most powerful in the segment delivering and the existing 3. 2L V6 remains one of the last 6-cylinder options in the segment. In addition to the extra oomph, the Cherokee is the only truly off-road capable compact crossover in America. Each of Jeeps three AWD systems is more capable than the competition. The basic system offers a full center lock and user controllable software, the next level adds the segments only 2-speed transfer case and the Trailhawk model tosses in a rear locking differential for the maximum in traction

I have a new 19 Wrangler Sahara, and taking delivery of our /wifes new 19 Cherokee Limited on Saturday. Ive had Jeeps, Toyotas, Hondas, Land Rovers, Kias. Fords, Chevys, you name it Ive had it. Always loved my Jeeps, from 1990 new to 97 new, to now and Never had any major mechanical issues. My Toyota Tundra electrical system was horrible. Honda Ridgeline I loved but had quite a few brake jobs. VW Tiquan was excellent even though it had a horrible reliability history with Consumer Reports. My Ford F-150 was bulletproof. My 4 Land Rover/Range Rovers were all unbearably unreliable from start to finish. I could go on and on. Jeeps have a spotty reliability history, but Ive had great luck with them, as did quite a few people I know. This new Cherokee is really nice. If you feel like complaining about something you dont own and havent owned, do it somewhere else.

I have a 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee Summit. I love the vehicle and absolutely hate the stop/start technology. My friend told me that its now on his Ford and I see the 2019 GMC/Chevy Silverado will also have it. I had a 2013 Toyota Avalon hybrid and it was seamless from electric to gas. 5 years later. I have a new vehicle that has this terrible stop/start technology. It changes your driving habits and you will soon learn how often you will turn your car off and this thing auto resets. You will start taking your foot off the gas at intersections to make sure your vehicle doesnt turn off and you will then take your eyes off the road to see if you turned the dumb button on. I will either need to go European or back to Toyota as they mastered this. I cant tell you how much I hate this feature

Great video; Most reviewers miss the key mission of this Jeep being a go anywhere vehicle. Im looking at cars like the Audi Allroad and Land Rover products and think this Jeep offers a lot of value and capability. Its in a class of one being truly off road capable, luxurious, and relatively affordable 36K for a Trailhawk. I personally think the Cherokee competes more with Land Rover i. e. Discovery Sport and less so with the mainstream SUVs. My wife has the CRV EXL and although a good car, it doesnt have the ride & NVH refinement, solidity, and capability of the Cherokee esp Trailhawk V6 I test drove. Entry models aside, the Cherokee drives and feels more like a luxury car than the mainstream SUVs mentioned in this video. Lets hope Jeep/FCA has overcome some of the old reliability issues.

OK Alex, there is one thing Ive been wondering for decades now. Perhaps you can enlighten me on why this can be. How on Earth, can a auto company come out with a vehicle EARLY IN THE CALENDAR YEAR, and call it the FOLLOW YEAR model? This takes me back to the early-mid 90s when I purchased a brand new fully redesigned 1993 Trans Am (they came out around July) while a co-worker had been driving around for months in a 1994 Chevy Lumina. I mean my Trans Am was completely overhauled from the 1992 designed, came out in MID (actually close to END) of model year while hers had been out for months yet was a year NEWER? Could you shed some light on this as Ive been scratching my head for decades (nope no bald spot yet.

Back in the 1990s, Jeeps got a bad rep (especially among law enforcement types) for being unreliable. Encumbered, rather than blessed, with technology, the would just up and quit, and for little or no reason. Took forever to figure out what was wrong with them and maybe you could discover the problem and get it fixed within a month or two. Now I see Jeeps all over the road and am being led to believe that their reliability and technology are far superior to that of previous models. Any comment? (Im considering buying my first AWD or 4WD in my 50 years of driving experience. Maybe theyll give me an old-fart discount)

1. What are other alternatives with lockable axles in this segment (mostly size? Are there any at all? 2. How reliable is the 2. 0T engine? Ch Trailh seems to be one of the rare SUV that is actually utilitarian. I do not want to buy Prado due to size. RAV4 and Forester are uncomfortable for me, CR-V is out of the game for lack of visibility, high price, CVT and small engine. CX-5/CX-8 is good as well but no lock/LSD. Mazda did excellent job with CX-8 for Japanese market - it is 4. 8m long but narrow, which is more comfortable for me and easier to park and drive. I am on Japanese market.

I owned a Cherokee Trailhawk for 2. 5 Years. It was the worst machine I have ever owned and I am glad to be rid of it. With that said the most significant problems I had with the transmission, headlights (which were woefully inadequate for nighttime driving) and a lack of rear cargo space. I had many long interviews and surveys that I filled out for jeep due to the numerous complaints I filed and repeated dealership visits for the transmission problems. I am very happy that jeep listened to its customer base but I cannot recommend this vehicle to anyone.

We had a 2016 Cherokee. Worst vehicle weve ever had. 4 trips to the dealer to fix a rattle in the sunroof, differential blew and had to be replaced after 10k, automatic lift gate wouldnt shut a few times, heated seat wouldnt shut off twice - even after turning the car off, and the final straw was when a pile of smoke poured out of the exhaust on a cold start once. Never had any issues or jerkiness with the 9sp, but way too many other problems that made this our first and last Jeep.

When talking about the rear cargo. You make it sound bad to have a compact spare tire Maybe you didnt mean it that way. But, its great that jeep is still putting a compact spare tire in the vehicle. I wish they would engineer the vehicle to support a full-size spare tire. I think it should be highly noted when a vehicle comes with a spare tire considering manufacturers are using our safety or lack of, to justify fuel savings and cargo capacity.

Good review. I drove jeeps for over 20 years. Unfortunately had very bad luck in terms of reliability. Last one was a 2012 Jeep Grand Cherokee. Sold it a few weeks ago. My daily driver is a Tesla Model S. On my second now. Sad how a company making cars for less then 10 years can make a car more reliable then Jeep. Hopefully Jeep will get better some day Loved those things other then the reliability
