I interned at GAC headquarter and visited they top-tier R&D center and factories. GAC makes Toyota, Honda(including Acura, Jeep(four models, etc in China. In the Chinese market, Toyota and Honda each have two joint ventures help them to produce cars. GAC is one of JV for both of them(so the two duels bet their chips in GAC for the giant Chinese market and GAC proved theyve both made an excellent decision) GAC made Accord for more two decades, Camry and Highlander for 15 years. And many other models of Honda and Toyota. HondaToyota engineers and management worked inside the JVs with GAC for decades, and GAC pretty much adopted the whole company culture from the Japanese(including the uniform style lol. Theyd better get something out of it. For years, GAC cars had built a really good reputation for reliability, quality, and service in China. I would trust their reliability no less than Korean cars. PS: does anyone feel the same awkwardness I feel scrolling down to those Cold War-style comments?

I would buy one if: They offer bumper to bumper warranty for 8-10 years included. Realistic pricing, for example if an SUV from them is competing vs Honda Pilot then their fully loaded SUV should be same price as basic Pilot with no options. (this is the mistake Hyundai is making with the new Genesis brand the the sales are horrible. They are competing against Benz, BMW, Lexus, Cadillac but they also selling for same price as them) no one is going to pay 50-70K for a Hyundais Genesis Brand when you can buy a brand new Benz for same money. So this new Chinese company should not make the same mistake. They should launch their first car at 25% lower cost than their competitions basic model and have all the options included. They should forget about profit for few years in exchange for market share. I would definitely consider a secondry car (Chinese) if I get a fully loaded for 13-15k taxes in with every single option available and looooooooooong term warranty (included)

I had an 2000. It think it was 200 Chevy S-10 and I did purchased it new. The OEM breaks, axle, many of the relies and even the alternator; all were made in China. And before that, I had 1997 Pontiac Grand Am. On the Pontiac, the only thing I changed were the light bulbs before claiming it though the lemon law. And those bulb had Chinese writing on it too. Most of the parts I replaces had Chinese writing. IT annoys me that I used to buy Gm products believe I am helping an American or Canadian fellow worker. But I was supporting Chinese firms instead. So I think the Chinese Automotive sector have been in the U. S. for a long time now. This is not surprising for me.

If they come to the US and have prices low enough and reliability moderately high enough to become a true competitor to our current market, then other car manufacturers will be forced to adapt. I dont see any problem whatsoever, only advantages. With more competition in the market, the only one who wins is the consumer. Dont we all remember when kia and hyundai came and everyone said no way and now look at them. Based on this video I like the overall vehicle designs. If they can bring a PHEV SUV thats better than the outlander and priced similar I personally would be very interested.

Since I mainly lease, barely purchase my daily driver, I would surely consider leasing one. I cant wait for Chinese automakers to make their debut in North America, this would have great benefit on currently available cars price point from a consumer perspective and positively impact the economy forcing other makers to push the industrial envelope to improve their cars yet compete on added value without paying premiums for name brands. I still remember the mixed feelings on the first Hyundai I saw in my life and look at them now, one of most establshied valued brands.

Reliability and emissions and safety and crap are all important, but these are extremely generic looking vehicles. I literally cannot find a single thing on the exterior that stands out and makes these look unique. Its great they are trying to appeal to markets all over the world, but I dont know if these stand a chance against anything in the states. They make me think of the most boring aspects of Ford and Subaru put together, and the specs I researched are nothing to write home about either. This looks like just an appliance brand.

Safety is a huge issue, as these arent really tested anywhere outside of china. Reliability is also of concern, no reliability data out of China can be trusted. Speaking of trust, are we going to have Huawei level security where way too much data is being sent back to the Chinese government without consent? Price would initially have to be very low, and I dont see that happening with the trade wars. If they arent undercutting the next cheapest by at least 10%, they will have a horrible time moving products.

GAC is not like regular Chinese quality which we know its different, I was very much surprised when I first drive GAC vehicle which belongs to my friend, this brand just recently started selling cars in Qatar country where I work in beginning everybody think this gonna be regular cheap bad quality and dangerous to drive cars, but its surprising now there is lots of GAC cars running on road just in two years they started to the perception of people about this brand,

I like some of their offerings, but based no reason other than the fact that its a Chinese brand I think a long warranty like some have mentioned already would be important to the American buyer. I think the most intriguing car is that Luxury minivan. I love that offering. Does that have AWD? I think that is something the American market is missing and I know Toyota makes one, but I think something that offers comfort and capability many people would love.

BTW they sell all these cars now in the Arabian gulf countries and they are sick they are good tough and handle the head paint is awesome but reliability is good not excellent definitely better than American cars they are not like the Japanese competition but they are good value and they have good tech with I think a 3-5 year warranty so that keeps reliability away from being a fear
