I was looking at the car to buy it and after a test drive I decided not to. Even tho the car looks huge on the outside once u get inside u notice how the designers didint do a good job on the interior. Dashboard is big and high making it difficult to watch the road thru the small windshield. Center console is also too high when sitting in thoselow seats(Im 6ft tall)The back seats do have great leg room but not good head room. The rear view mirror is useles do to the small piece of glass behind the backseats and those huge head rests attached to the seats. U cant get leather on the sporty trims u get leather imitation and little bit of suedeToGet one of the sporty trims with all the belts and whistles u have to pay a little over 45k and u not even getting leather. Resale value not good after a couple of years(great exterior and good engine yes) but not worth that much money. Even tho I hate to admit it. Cuz I believe the exterior looks really bad. The Honda Accord is a much better buy right now. U will pay a little over 36k for the highest trim with all the bells and whistles. U do get a leather interior and resale value is veryGood(even tho u can only get a 4 cilynder turbo engine. I know most of youWill not agree with me. But this is just my opinion. Im no expert.

Thank you Alex, for a great review. As for my opinion. Not sure if people are noticing, but many vehicles today are following each other with the same 2 features/designs. an open (almost non-existent) grill and a tablet type stereo for a radio, which sticks out, instead of being flushed with the dash. an obstruction/distraction in my view, just what we need in traffic infested cities. Yes, the infotainment is nice, but at least dont have these tainment systems stick out to tempt to look at and eventually start fooling around with it while driving. A preference would be a SIRI type unit, which doesnt require touching or taking your eyes off the road. As for the open grill, what happened to safety and having a strong bumper/cushion? With no protection, any front end accident and your engine will be in your lap.

This is a much better product then the accord. Honda doesnt offer anything on this level. This car is better then current Acura sedans. forget the accord. Not sure why you even bother comparing this new Avalon to either the accord or Camry being that it will cost more then both and is larger. Great car once you get past the grill the rest of the car is really sleek and good looking. The grill looks the best on darker colored cars where it blends in and doesnt stick out. Love the interior also. Like the quad tip exhaust setup. Love the LED headlights and tail lights. This is a bargain luxury car that will be dead reliable and fun to drive with the XSE model. Very well rounded product but they should separate the front grill instead of combining it all into one.

Does Toyota ever read comments regarding the design of their cars? Unbelievable to come up with such a hideous front design, it is so awkward that you might think that Toyota does not want to sell Avalons anymore. The rest of the car very well proportioned and nice design. I have never seen a company that is so stubborn and has such a poor connection with their clients. If Toyota Lexus continue they will lose ground to the competition, mainly due to their ridiculous styling.

I purchased the red Touring model today. Its a great car in every way. I wouldnt describe it as sporty, though it looks sporty and drives well. The cabin is incredibly quiet and I could barely hear other cars on the road. The new infotainment system software now allows for CarPlay and that was a huge part of my why I decided to buy the car. The Toyota Entune system is the worst Ive ever used and CarPlay negates the need to use Entune.

The moron who designed the front needs to be fired immediately. Seriously, how did he / she even get a job as designer at Toyota in the first place? Designers and architects nowadays are nothing but con artists who trick other people into giving them jobs by talking ridiculous artsy stuff no one dares to object to to not seem clueless. And hideous bullshit like this is the result.

The front end treatment of current generation Toyota and Lexus remind me of a bottom feeder like a catfish. Just plain ugly and I personally just cant get past it. I know they feel they need to be distinctive and they certain have succeeded - in a bad way. Can you imagine owning one of these 10 years from now and asking yourself what was I thinking? Remember the fins from old?

Great Review Alex. I was hoping that Toyota would offer AWD this time to really put a distance between this one and the Camry. The larger cabin is nicer for sure though. However, I believe the Camry XLE/XSE Trims look better than this Touring on the outside. I am not sold on this front end or those 3D tail lights. However, they probably look great at night.

Ugh. Thats a lot of look. The styling of Lexus is finally gelling after a decade of ungainly details. Now Toyotas are going thru their ugly duckling phase. I liked the last couple generations of Avalon, but this? Hell naw. The new 300 is just about perfect in my eyes anyway. Hardest part would be choosing which model. Hybrid? Sport? Lux? Theyre all sooo good.

The side profile and rear end looks great. The front-end grille however. err, it is an acquired taste. I wish Toyota gives the Avalon an AWD powertrain to make it stand out more and appeal the shrinking sedan market from the SUV buyers. Also as an Android owner Im disappointed that Toyota decided to forgo 1/2 of the market with the infotainment system.
