To me this EV seems to be a knee-jerk reaction to the Mercedes EQC more than anything Tesla. With the EQC going on sale soon, now they are simply racing to get their own electric luxury crossover out before everyone has one. Lincoln and Volvo have PHEV luxury crossovers which are close seconds. It suprises me the only electrified vehicles caddy has had over the years was the weird 2 door volt thing, and the phev ct6 that was straight from china and only sold in base trims. GM may have a lot of time in the EV game, but they don't have a good reputation with it (unlike nissan who should just commit to full ev's already)
I am still dissapointed that the new half ton suv's and trucks don't have plugs on them. Not full EV but PHEV, or even just hybrids (they are really letting ford beat them to electric trucks, GM had hybrids a while back, its sad they ditched them.

I have to hand it to Caddy for stepping out of their usual safe, conventional comfort zone. New direction in styling, inside and out, starting with the Escalade and now this Lyriq really shows what GM can do when it really wants to stand out(although I see some MB EQC/EQS in the front end, the Caddy looks better executed/less bulbous. The styling and specs of this thing are outstanding. At long last, a hybrid other than a 120k P1000D or 200K Taycan Turbo that seems like it will be highly desirable. With this architecture, Cadillac is fortifying a formidable future.

Super Cruise: Why does nobody ever mention that this only works on roads GM have analyzed and digitized? They have a map online of all the compatible highways. It looks like the nearest one is about 60 miles east from where I live. If I'm going any other direction, it's completely useless. It literally will not work on 98% of roads I drive. I'm sure GM will have more roads mapped by the time the Lyriq is actually shipping, but that just reminds me that it's going to be A While.

I absolutely love this. I would buy a Tesla but i hate how they look inside and out. This has a fantastic interior. Tesla is a joke, seriously they need to up their game. The main players are going to kill them with this and the Taycan along w/ all the other great EV's from other manufacturers. But this is flat out WOW. Cadillac is back w/ this.

This seems to be a direct competitor to e-tron, I think. Rather conventional proportions, good quality but slightly futuristic design.
This has the performance on its side and the fact that it is from an american company and thus probably surfing on the patriotic wave to some extend.
This will sell very well, IMO

Sounds pretty good but the price will keep the sales volume down. Will be interesting to see how the resale price holds up. If resales plummet could be a great previously loved choice. 19Kw home charging is 80 amps which is nearly max for some homes service. Given a 100Kwh battery that's 5 hours for full charge.

So let s recap:
- weird design
- no charging infrastructure
- comes out in 2022 (if on time)
- doesn t charge as fast as competition
- doesn t go as far as competition
I admire the effort GM but.

Okay so as we know from Cadillac they aren't going to build this suv just like the rest of their Prototypes it s just for show. Just like 16 and the other Prototypes they show it will never be built

I was hoping for an actual production vehicle. They showed this off in photos a year and a half ago and it won't be out till 2023. It's like they're parading around the Camaro all over again.
