Not vehicle specific, yet here's the burning question: hybrid power versus plug-in hybrid power? Advantages/disadvantages.
I'm looking to purchase a reasonably overland capable vehicle for travel in the hinterlands of northern Canada and Alaska. Fuel range is a priority for me, because I'm old and scared, and I've a few times found gas stations in remote areas that were out of fuel while waiting for the next delivery a few days/weeks hence. I am considering a truck because I want to carry gasoline/diesel in the back rather than on the roof or inside my (potential) SUV. So this suggests that if I opt for battery power of some sort that maybe plug-ins are then less practical. What concept am I not comprehending? Am I better off just sucking up fuel costs and buying a Ram or Tundra with a 137 liter (38 us gallon) tank?

The exterior is an evolution, but a good one in my opinion. They took a good looking truck and gave it a bit more style. The interior is a huge jump forward, at least on the models shown. I do wonder what the interior will look like on the lower cost variants of the truck. I also wonder what safety systems will now be standard vs optional (things like blind spot monitoring, rear cross traffic alert, 360 camera, radar guided cruise control, etc. Overall, I think Ford has a winner on its hand here and will continue to sell these trucks like hotcakes.

Interesting redesign. Heavy GMC influence with a hint of Ram in the grille, and the bed area seems to harken back to the 09-14 generation. I hope Ford really sweated the details and worked hard on quality(the Limited looks to have got inspiration from Ram's Limited with Indigo/Frost color scheme, perhaps taking some people from the Lincoln team who is on roll! But I guess we cant chide Ford too hard, as you can't mess with success in too far of a degree.

The looks didn't change much in this iteration, but the interior. that's a different story.
Maybe I'm too much of a pampered consumer, but wouldn't it be nice if the hybridization was available for ALL engines? I mean, all of them would benefit from it, and all consumers would benefit from the new capabilities offered on the hybrid version. or am I wrong?
Then again, thanks for this very comprehensive review/explanation, Alex! Keep up the good work!

The looks are already amazing so no changes are needed.
The interior is awesome.
The options are awesome.
The hybrid would be great for overlanding, trade or anyone that spends most of life in the truck.
If Ford offers every feature separately with disregard of the trims, a client could purchase a truck that fits their needs perfectly.
That is great news for everyone as the competition will have to raise their game. ;)

That hybrid battery size seem questionable to others? Only a 1. 5kWh battery mentioned at 13: 44, which seems pathetically small for a truck where weight is not such an issue and I thought a larger buffer would be good for the inverter not to mention region when coming down large hills. Assuming that the electric motor is at least 150kW then that's 36sec of power at full power like towing boost on a hill or pulling large boat up a ramp.

Excited for more info on the PowerBoost. Looks like based on technical data that 700 range will translate to 23MPG with the only available 30. 6 gallon tank. This obviously depends on whether it is based on total tank capacity or the usable amount. (see Toyta Rav4 Hybrid tank isue video)
Also, where can we get that trim level/grill/wheel graphic shown at 1: 07? Cant seem to find it in the publicly available press kit.

I feel like the Tundra Hybrid is going to blow this thing out of the water with efficiency and power. Like them or not, Toyota is the king of this tech. I am surprised the battery in this truck is not much bigger than a Prius battery. Not much room for regeneration. I would expect the Tundra battery to be 2 to 3 times the size of this battery. Larger if they plan on a Tundra Prime as well.

There were two interior shots with no shifter visible in the center console or on the column. Interesting. Didn t see a sport mode nor paddle shifters; brake/trans logic going to be that good? I still prefer to select the gear I want on downhill runs and hold the gear I want uphill. Finally, the 10 speed behind the 3. 3 V-6. Sounds like a 2wd, crew, 3. 3 might be in my future.

I like how Ford kept everything simple but very useful and relevant. These will sell like hot cake. I'm sure that several owners will probably trade in their current trucks or switch from other brands. Sure a plug-in hybrid would have been nice. I bet that it's coming for the 2023 models. You gotta keep selling points in your back pocket.
