The new 2022 Audi RS3 has at least five things going for it. Yup, the RS3 is back and Audi has stuck to the formula for making its small hatch and saloon go fast, and that's to stick a 2. 5-litre five-cylinder engine in the front of it. Goody. That means the new RS3 makes 394bhp and 369lb ft of torque, and with a four-wheel drive system it's good for a 0-62mph time of just 3. 8sec and, if you tick the right boxes on the options list, a top speed of 180mph. If you do tick those options, though, you can get an RS3 that costs upwards of -65, 000. Which brings it close enough to the 2022 BMW M3 Competition for the two to be in the reckoning of each other. Conveniently the new M3 is also, for the first time, available in four-wheel drive. The new BMW M3 Competition xDrive shares quite a lot with the rear-drive M3 variant. It has a 3. 0-litre straight-six engine making 503bhp and 479lb ft, but the additional traction and security offered by the four-wheel drive system means it can go from 0-62mph in 3. 9sec, while the top speed is also 180mph with the optional M Driver's Package, or 155mph without. The M3 Competition xDrive costs from around -78, 000. More than the RS3, and it's a bigger car, but they exist on a close enough sphere for us to put them together. So, with winter looming, which secure driver's car will it be? Join Matt Prior and Matt Saunders as they find out

My last car was an S3. My current car is an M2 Competition, but I just put a deposit down on an RS3. Why? Because I don't agree with these guys. I tried BMW out, but have missed Audi the entire time. The BMW just doesn't seem as solidly put together imho. And the RWD handling is often exaggerated. I actually felt like I could whip around traffic more in my S3 than I can in my M2. The interior was WAY nicer, and the stereo systems can't even be compared. The B&O is infinitely better. (Granted, I know the M3 is a step up in those areas compared to the M2, but still)
To each their own, but I'm looking forward to getting back into an Audi and I think this RS3 might be one of their best ever. Definitely going to miss the clutch though.

You said proper equipped RS3 is 60k and M3 is 85k, yet the Audi is overpriced and needs to step up? That-s not hard math at a 25k difference. On what planet is 25k not a huge difference? -. looking for the RS3 to stand up to the M3--. -Somehow the M3 feels more special. -. Hilarious, Goofy. Of course it feels more special-it-s in a higher segment and 25k more!
But ya know what, the M3 is so effing ugly, I-ll let the people who like ugly things as long as it says BMW enjoy it, I-ll settle for an RS4 Avant, RS5 Sportback, S7, C63 estate or save a pile of money and get an RS3 Sportback as my daily driver and put the savings on a second hand Boxster S for the weekends. -

M3xdrive is definitely the way to go and it comes from someone who owns an Audi rs3. I opted for Audi simply (as lot of people in my situation) because of the daily driving because unfortunately where I live the roads are a disaster and we have weather conditions (rain/snow) so the RWD is a disaster on trip. Audi is notoriously expensive on options, unfortunately you have to take because the basic version looks like crap. yeah, the 5-cyl engine sounds fantastic but if you are in to -sporty- driving experience bmw is far more superior.

Welcome to 2022 politically correct, bland Britain. The whole review is spent doing lame speeds no faster than Granny does to the Co-Op and back, and Matt Prior favourably compares a portly four door saloon to a Caterham, whilst bare-facedly lying about having a good time in 6th gear, with no manual gearbox, and sticking to the speed limit. What a load of bollocks.

Not the smartest comparison video ever done. If you had sidestepped the very obvious differences between the two segments the cars belong to, it may have been slightly better received. Anyway, just decided to comment to let you know that this is probably one of maybe a handful of YT vids I-ve disliked; makes me feel better now that I-ve let you know.

I am sorry but I thought that you guys were professional motors journalists but that doesn-t seem like it and not like car reviewing/comparing at all you guys just had a bit of driving and talking about each car at the end nothing -. what wast-

I have got old. two dream cars of mine. but not anymore. both of them look so ugly to me. i hate the new front end. well done Audi you have joined BMW in
a new era of which one of us can design the worst looking car,

between these two cars there is no comparison, M3 all day long, much better car inside and performance wise. And im an audi rs7 c8 owner, previous car was an f90 m5 which i will deffo go back to in next year

The bmw runs deep 10s with a tune only. Some dp tune and tire you have a 9 sec car -10. 3 with a jb4 full weight too which is only 1000$. Audi needs to redo the s4. That 349hp engine is old news

Wait- stop. I-m sorry but an m3 xdrive competition is NOT in the same price range. 27k difference between base models. Will watch the comparison but it-s not apples for apples.
