Jaguar XKR-S review - Auto Express

The Jaguar XKR-S is a track-focused version of the already rapid 5. 0-litre supercharged XKR, we grabbed the chance to put the new coupe through its paces on the road and at the track. Can it do almost -everything a Ferrari 599 GTB -can do, but for over -100, 000 less? Or is it simply a faster version of the XKR?

Still if i wasnt clear enough, a DBS is at the lights and i rock up next to it in a example below this is what id think.
DBS vs Turbo, well im faster and better made
DBS vs GT3RS, well ive got a more pure drive exp
DBS vs R8 cab, well i look better and im faster
DBS vs Mas gran S, well your's has only half the passion, looks and exhaust note of mine
DBS vs Jag XKRS, well i bought the same car for half the price
DBS vs 458, well ferrari no need to explain.
Every reason stated shows astons r crap

All the cars i mentioned are prestige, high performance, expensive and highly desirable for which the aston is supposed to express and represent. I mentioned the turbo in with the gt3 rs. Each one of the cars i mentioned yes like you said out do another eachother in some way, however these are the cars that are the best in their chosen field. The aston martin is useless, to slow, every model looks boring and the same, over priced, no outstanding luxury, boring exhaust n engine note = waste of $

What makes you think because you go out and buy a Japanese turbo hatchback that you haven't got alot of money? No justification to your statement. Haha hang on. My supra 30K just destroyed ur 400K hunk of crap at the lights, i think thats pretty funny. In the end i brought this discussion weve been having up with a friend yesterday, then along Chapel St an Aston Martin drove past, DBS. Yer looks ok, but sitting behind it was a Merc CL65 AMG, lol both laughed at the Aston and agreed on the AMG.

Yer but these cars are the best at what they do(cruising, racing, luxury. An aston martin isn't even an all rounder. DB9 0-60 4. 7. Your racing and losing to Evo's, Skylines and WRX's and other japanese cars, for which you could buy roughly 6-7 brand new cars for the hunk of shit aston. Aston's have a niche market for people who have no idea. A DBS buyer is a white haired rich old fool who will never drive the car, probably never driven a 911 Turbo either. Go buy an aston and get laughed at.

-StuRaz Hmm yer the aston isnt a bad car compared to the general population of cars, its incredible compared to the general population. However the price tag is lets be honest utterly ridculously high. With that comes the problem of being in the same region as the ferrari 458, the porsche turbo/ gt3 rs 3. 8/4. 0, the maserati granturismo S, this jag, audi r8 and pushing on mclaren's new car. All of which are better in performance and quality and looks. Thats why aston's are a waste of money.

-subzerostorm I could post the same comment again and it would still defeat you. I could pit any one of them against each other in different ways and make them all look bad and a waste of money. It's like saying Champagne is a waste of money because Scrumpy Jack cider is cheaper and gets you more drunk, it doesn't make it good value or a better drink.
Aston have a kind of niche market, a DBS buyer isn't going to be interested in the others. Whereas anyone could be torn between a 911 Turbo or R8

-subzerostorm Half the cars in your list are a waste of money compared to other cars you mentioned in the same sentence when you look at it like you're doing. How is a DB9, for example, in any way comparable to a Porsche 911 GT3RS, like you just said? But that doesn't make any of them a waste of money. If you want to a be a killjoy you could say ALL high performance cars are wastes of money because you can only go the speed limit and go from A to B. If you can afford them then it's not a waste.
reply

-subzerostorm A DB9 isn't gonna go to the track, who buys a DB9 as a track car?
And I'll get laughed at? Not really, I'm not the one willing to go out and buy a Japanese turbo hatchback so I can tell everyone I've not got much money and but can do the same 0-60 as a DB9. Only a 17yr old learner driver would brag about that. A DBS is one of the most desirable cars on the planet and it does have a niche. Your 'Top Trumps' teenage logic isn't what people use when buying cars.

reply

-subzerostorm What 400k car? And Chapel Street, do you live in Southport?
The justification is the fact that you can't defend your cars for any other reason other than price/performance, in other words you have no taste, just go with whatever you read on a grid on the internet. And then you brag about an AMG Mercedes. I was driving a C63 for about a month last year, terrible car. Only good thing about it was the noise, the brakes and he engine, the rest was just garbage.

-AVeryBeautifulLoser the XKR-S is a raw version of the XKR. There is no comfort in that car. I have seen one in a Jaguar dealership before and sat in it, manager actually drove it and said that you can literally feel the cracks on the road. It's made to be ONLY sporty, like the GTR but the GTR is just a better sport car for the fraction of the Jaguar. Jaguar should stick to comfort ONLY and leave sportiness out. It'll only appeal to Jaguar lovers not enthusiasts period.
