It really has become the cool thing to harp on about the 205. It really is so old hat and although it has initial novelty value because it doesn't carry the required weight penalty of better crash resistance or has the safer handling of later models it wears thin so quickly. The 205 gti was the most disappointing car I've ever had. An over stiff and quite frankly dangerous in the wrong hands rear end is all the 205 is. It's time to move on. Better cars are everywhere!

Ive owned three 205 GTi: s. Loved them all! But its not the best hot hatch. It needs a better engine, with more character. I swapped the engine in all my three cars to an Mi16 from the 405 Mi16. I dont know why peugeot didnt think of that because it was such an easy task. But after the engine swap i got 148bhp and an engine that just wanted to be punished all the time! Easily the most fun to drive car ive ever driven!

Why, and I mean why damn it Peugeot did not put 2 liter turbo charged engine in it. Peugeot had superb 2. 0 turbo petrol back in 405. Did they forget it? Why it was not developed further? And this PSA-BMW joint venture -prince- engines are peace of crap. Hydraulics valve steering fail in cylider head afer 40000 miles and even on new cars with a few miles on them!

This car was meant to be a competitor to the Fiesta ST and Polo GTi. They used a 1. 6 turbocharged engine instead of a 1. 9/2. 0L because they wanted to meet economy standards. I've got a 208 GTi and it's been brilliant so far. There's a bit of lag but 3rd gear - 3k is truly amazing on British B Roads.

Peugeot guys. we bored 1. 6 thp and 1. 6 200hp all time. we want a 2. 0 boosted engine with 250hp-270 sometime. its a shame for the mechanics with the very big history and proud of rallyes so many years and victories! Some time make a peugeot or citroen for big Men!

cause 205 turns better than the other two because it has a bridge under the engine and because it was THE FIRST GTI. 106 and 306 where rallyes.
and the gti edition just had leather seats. not the gran turismo meaning.

Almost misleading title. The 208 appears for very little time and the guy who has driven it was a PUG guy!
They must be too afraid to let someone else drive it before some orders have come.

i sold my 1. 9 205gti 2 years ago and still miss it. had clio 172 cup and ep3 civic type r since. but there dull to drive after the 205. nice having a car that starts all the time now though! ha

I had a 309 GTi and loved it. Would probably still have it if a woman hadn't pulled out in front of me. Now driving a 406 Coupe. Different class of car but still love it.
