Neither a borrower or a lender be, in other words, if you can't afford your own vehicle tuff toenails, walk take a bus or hitch a ride but you ain't a borrowin my ride. I actually had a woman ask me if she could borrow one of my cars, you see a friend of mine was getting rid of her 2003 town car, I told her I'd sell it for her, it needed some work which did, now the radiator is leaking, anywho this woman wanted to buy my old lesabre, I said no but I might be selling this for a friend, one thing led to another and I decided i wanted to buy the Lincoln, she got pissed when I told her I wasn't selling it so she asked if she could borrow my Buick, I of course said a big fat no now she wants to sue me for fraud, no money was exchanged so I guess I'll have to wait and see what happens.

You were whistling in an even tempered scale(all western music uses that scale) Bach invented it. Copyright strike! I am so sick of the copyright strike lawyers. A passing car with stereo blasting - copyright strike! So you have to edit that part out.
So instead of:
Gee, what's that song I hear on that guys radio playing in the background Sounds kind'a neat. I want to buy it.
We get:
Gee. Silence. I like that. I'll just have to turn all sources of music off. No copyright strike. I don't have to pay money to a musician or a lawyer.
Oh wait! Two Minutes of Silence was a track on a John and Yoko record. Copyright strike! :)
Lyrics web pages actually have the lyrics for that track.

Dang, this one hits hard. There is more real life in these videos than anyone would ever expect. Eric's stream of consciousness narrative is brilliant - funny, insightful, honest, reflective, humble and emotional. The way he and Mrs. O interact is a THE model of how to treat your loved ones, no matter how you define relationships. The car advice is almost secondary to the life advice at this point. There shouldn't be a reason to cry during a car video about cleaning windows and replacing wheel speed sensors, but here we are. Listen closely people and pay attention - Eric O is showing us the way. If he can do it (and he does, we can too.

Thanks for clearing that up about ChrisFix. I figured he was just like that after he posted about his catalytic converter was stolen and to install a new one. I watch out of boredom And he shows how the cat was stolen and the cuts on the car were perfect, straight and clean. I’ve seen many stolen cat aftermaths and I’ve never seen cuts like he had. They’re usually all sloppy, angled or even bent to break off.
He definitely set up that video up for views and I commented that and he comments immediately back what are u trying to say lol

Eric speaking of things we were told was OK. Back in the day, I started my career as a bench Tech with one of those big Tech giants. We used carbon tetrachloride to clean the circuit boards after repairs. Also, used led solder when soldering in new components. We sat next to large vats of molten solder where the newly populated circuit boards were run through the solder baths to solder the components on the boards. I can't tell you how many times I was exposed to toxic chemicals that were outlawed later. Just saying. LOL

I still watch ChrisFix, kind of surprising he would block you, he doesnt seem like that kind of person, especially if you were as polite as claiming. I'm by no means a mechanic, only a person who does my own work, but some of the stuff Scotty Kilmer said didnt make sense to me and some of the products he was hating/pushing were sketch. I unsubbed from him years ago and dont think I'm missing much. Especially not hearing every video how Toyotas are so great and everything American made is trash.

Say what you will about Scotty I don't like him either but you've got to admit one thing, he is the king of clickbait, how many times just in the last month has there been a picture of Scotty with the word bye next to it, he is famous for it, then it is titled something like, it's a sad day for Scotty viewers and if you're a sucker to actually click it you'll get the usual yelling and waving of his arms about like one of those things outside a car dealer, that's what he reminds me of.

I gave up on Scotty several years back when I realised that it was about him selling himself and his affliate links with very little knowledge to help people, Eric on the other hand I do watch because I find that his diagnostic approach to problem solving works wonders like my sisters Skodas had a defective power boot switch which from watching Eric I knew meant that the switch had water and dirt gotten past the boot seal from a short to ground message in OBD.

A couple of years ago, I walked into a Meineke, and behind the counter, they had this massive picture of Scotty Kilmer. For a split second, I thought, Wow, didn’t know Meineke had a BMX division. I asked the guy about it, and he just stared at me like I had three heads. Turns out, it was just a fan thing or maybe Scotty was their motivational speaker. Who knows Nothing says trustworthy auto repair shop like a squad car out front on a regular basis.

I commented on a Scotty Kilmer video saying he uses click-bait titles for his videos. I then provided a sarcastic headline he should use for his next video. It was something ridiculous like using this windshield washer fluid can kill you!
I swear the very next day he released a video with that same headline word-for-word. I unsubbed after that. What a HACK! But his troll skill is level 9000! I gotta give him props for that!

I have not watched more than a few minutes of an SK video before asking what bs is this, there is a few others I can’t watch including one guy who does ok Diagnostic but can’t stop breaking bolts and ruining drill bits. Too bad for others if their ego can’t take constructive information and has them block someone from pointing out their mistakes.
I have pretty long teeth and yet still open to learning new tricks or ideas.

Well this old girl certainly been around town, down town & up country too probably!
when every tom dick and harry is getting a ride they turn out rough, she got some stories to tell, assume some borrower likely fiddling with code clearing, perhaps after a ditch trip that lost the temp sensor.
Good info on the abs sensors, will log that in my computer but I got a lot of bad sectors these days lol.

When I was starting out on Cars, ChrisFix was a good confidence builder for just doing stuff at my house but, over time, I've definitely watch more professional and people who are licensed techs who do things just to learn tips or tricks in the trade. Scotty on the other hand, maybe a vid here and there but def never was a fan. Keep being you Eric, your one of the greatest out there!

I got a kick out of your comment road debriss'! I had a captain on our fire department that used to read to his class out of a red cross first aid book, and whenever he was talking about helping a choking victim, always turn their head to the side and clean the derbis ' out of their throat! So since then, 40 some years now, the word debris has always been 'derbis '!

It’s ok to cry once in a while, especially when you realize injustice is happening and there isn’t a smooth way to call it out.
I guess knowing the circumstances, gives you the ability to make that customer a V. I. P. and do the right thing, hook them up, give them priority etc.
In my opinion you are doing it right. Gives me hope for the future!

I, on the other hand, have blocked Scotty Kilmer videos from popping up in my feed because he’s such an annoying wealth of misinformation that I don’t even wanna see his face on my screen.
Did that Rainman Ray also, but only because I don’t like his presentation style. Nothing against him or his technique, that’s for sure.

reply

You should be able to call out anyone you want when they make mistakes. I don't care who they are or what they do. We are only able to better ourselves once we acknowledge we make mistakes and accept constructive criticism. People who persistently bully other people into submission only shows who they are as a person and professional.

One of the most comical things I see on the interstate is what I call, MiniVan Man. some Race Car Dad in a minivan, driving down the highway like he's behind the wheel of a Maserati going 20 over, weaseling in and out of lanes, trying to keep up with the real cars built for that style driving. then here comes, MiniVan Man. zoom-zoom.

I always have more questions when I watch a Chris Fix or Scotty Kilmer video. With Eric’s i feel like I’ve been given more info than I can handle haha. If all 3 were lined up as shops side by side. I’d be taking it to Eric every time unless Scanner Danner bought the 4th shop than I’d be taking it to whoever is cheaper haha.

I think I've only ever watched 2-3 Scotty vids - long ago - which is all it took to realize the guy is a big friggin' ID-10. T (and 'it' was/is all about click-bait & engagement farming w/ him.
I prefer to watch skilled smart people w/ great work ethic (which ain't Kilmer.
Keep up the great vids, good sir!
