Ok let's be honest I just wanted to use the word Build in a video title because it sounds fancy. Anyhow, we just have to fix up a Ford Ranger 2wd that was dropped off at the shop with the front spindle all tore up. Time to take a trip to the junk yard and get some goods!

I'm on my third Ford Ranger. I've also had two Explorers so I am definitely a believer in those trucks. The truck I have now is a 2010 Ford Ranger Sport extended cab with the 4. 0 engine and it is the best of them all. Hard working and very reliable. If it keeps going the way it is now it'll far outlast me. When Hurricane Michael hit, my 4x8 utility trailer was buried tongue first in the ground which not only twisted the tongue but the frame as well. I managed to work the tongue back into shape enough that I could haul yard and house debris, trees and stumps out of my elderly neighbor's yard as well as my own out to the road for the debris trucks to pick up. That Ranger never acted like the load was even back there and that trailer was loaded as high as I could get it. I later had the trailer rebuilt and it's good as new now. My truck was inside the garage and escaped being damaged, which was a blessing because everything around the house got obliterated!

Ah I have a friend that has 2 2000 model Ford Ranger 2 wd in snowy south dakota. Actually one needs ball joints upper and lower but last week my back decided that it wanted to be painful though I'd been taking it easy for some time.
It would be nice to get well so I can get back with the program.
What Eric O with no brake lathe? I see those experts always advertising the on vehicle brake lathes for the true turning of a rotor. I guess you and I aren't those suckers unless we'd had one around for many years.
Use em once and toss the rotors as rusty as they get and cheap as they are vs turning them for 20 per rotor at local parts store.
I must say the impact that vehicle took was good enough that it loosened up the parts you were taking the nuts off. Hope he gets the alignment checked after you do the work.

Eric when was the video shot for this as this surely wasn't in a Tried and True New York Winter!
I saw the video and what you said you were doing and was like where's the snow and winter gear Eric should be wearing. That's a nice jacket. I have 2 shirts with that logo. Would love to get a black sweatshirt jacket like that with a full zipper on the front as I have the 1/4 zip and regular sweatshirts. LEt me know a price and I can call and pay the boss with PayPal if she can figure up the cost plus shipping. 2-3XL is by preferred size. Like em loose for moving around freely. Might buy one of each size if you got em.

Has anyone ever thought of a hot dip galvanize treatment for under vehicle surface parts? Just thinkin about the rust belt and the car conditions that you see all the time. Lucky for you your customers can come in with bald tires no brakes flapping rusted sheet metal but they are flush with cash in they'r bank accounts! :P

I loved my old 1999 Mazda B2500 aka 1999 Ford Ranger 2. 5L Lima I4 with mazda badges. It was a gutless wonder but I beat the hell out of it and it just kept going.
The only major issue was the part of the ignition system that controlled the driver side/Primary ignition coil fried. I had to replace the old ECM.

Man! This is starting to be come a common problem. I happen to have the same problem on the same side on my 00 Ford Explorer sport. Thanks for posting this. Went to junkyard and took the spindle and the ABS sensor. The rotors brakes and bearings all new.

Those two wheel drive manual transmission rangers, used to be Fords advertised ranger specials from 98-2003. You could buy them for 90 a month no money down. Or lease them for 65 a month. We used to sell a lot of them.

I'm confused, around here a mechanic charges 80 an hour from the time he leaves his door until he returns to his door. How much does a new rotor cost? They won't even turn rotors around here, they just buy new ones.

Eric you missed a teriffic job to do. My 2005 F150 4x4 5. 4 L 3 v needed manifold studs and a leaky PS return line replaced. 2 manifolds, all studs, a rack n pinion and maybe a ps pump. That is thanks to PA rust

With as often as you say This much be how it is in the south, you need to run a move by Mrs. O. Check out New Smyrna Beach, FL. Trade the snow for beach sand and our rust is muuuuuuuch easier to deal with!
