My favorite leak detector is the Inficon D-Tek stratus. Has a lithium ion battery with very long battery life, and my favorite mode is the cloud hunting mode. It displays parts per million on the display and I've found leaks that were far away. It makes chasing down a leak easier you just keep moving around until the PPM gets high. Like when you get to 1000, I switch to Super and maybe Low sensitivity manual mode for a pinpoint search. However once you get close you can usually spot the compressor oil residue.

I bought one and had to return it because it goes off when you use soapy wooder. Don’t believe me Fill a spray bottle with dawn dish soap and then shake it up. Open the cap of the bottle and put the leak detector at it. It’s worthless if you can’t trust it. Fill the system with nitrogen and spray it down with soapy water.

When I worked at a Ford Dealership we used AC sniffers. Later when I went to a Peterbilt Dealership I was introduced to Nitrogen to look for leaks.
I'll never waste my time with AC sniffers. Nitrogen is the way to go when looking for leaks.

I don’t think I’ve ever used my leak detector. I was told they are very unreliable, and a waste of time to use, so I have not really ever used it. Can you make a longer video showing how to properly use one and getting reliable/good results

Hey Eric O, have you ever used a sniffer that gave false positives I have the cheapo HF unit and it seems to find minor leaks everywhere all the time. wondering if this is a cheap unit thing or a mine's broken and belongs in the trash thing.

You didn’t do a price comparison. It don’t matter much to me being as we don’t have Harbour Freight or Icon in Canada but some of your viewers might want to know

I do the ScannerDanner method. Fill with shop air and use bubble spray. Quick, cheap, and easy. You're going to evac the system anyway so the shop air doesn't matter.
