Hi Eric, Was wondering why u just didnt put the engine round on her timing marks after u pulled the cam cover off. instead of all that balony of counting teeth and getting all confused. cos u will also have sprocket wear that ur calc's will not account for and it would be a hell of a lot quicker. cos the crank sprocket's alignment mark will show up very clearly if there was any stetch on the chain/sprocket wear due to the crank sprockets ratio being 2: 1 with the cam sprocket. and of course u will see the discrepency because u see the wear over the entire chain length including 3 points of contact(2 cams and 1 crank) with sprockets.
Great video and diagnosing all the same, im sure u cant think of every possibility when the camera is running! lol

Just wanted to thank you for publishing such a video. I am a Chevy Colorado owner just succesfully changed the valve cover seals and spark plug seal w/plugs, it's the first time I've ever worked on a vehicle. I followed most of what you did except I did it without removing the cooling fan and draining some coolant, lol. Everything did fall into place when I moved everything back on the wiring. Just a thank you comment is all.

I have an 05 Colorado ext cab, but same motor as this one, 280 k miles on the clock, rides very good and just take about a quart of oil between oil changes (every 4K. I use as a work truck and im very happy with it, when it hits 300 k I might get something newer, but I'm even considering getting a newer 3. 5 or 3. 7 with low miles. Very little expenses thru these 280 k miles

Watching you work and diagnose problems, then tear apart those engines gives me much more
appreciation for automotive technicians. I realize how important it is to know a well trained, honest mechanic for
todays ultra complex cars. I am 70; years old and dont wrench much anymore, but enjoy your videos much more than
Network TV

All that time on a 2 wheel drive, 4 cylinder shitbox Colorado that's so dirty it looks like you could power wash the interior for an hour just to make mud. I'd yank out the money bulb and send the customer away with a sticker. Then I'd tell him to go truck shopping asap.

Holy. what a cluster. definitely took notes to avoid this engine work at all. I mean, once you start, you GOTTA finish. but heck, without a lift, IDK. I don't think I'd touch it. The constant working from the top, then bottom, & back & forth. just dumb! Lol

Ive worked on this problem before found out the crank was moving front to back and threw this code. I had to take it to the dealer to confirm and it ending up being a motor

you kinda stepped off the cliff, after telling us how you can't really make a determination w/o a good known waveform. I'll follow along to see where you end up.

Thanks Eric O I just purchased a 2019 Ridgeline RTL, sold my 2008 RT with 51, 330 with added accessories to my friend for 8000. I think it's a very reliable vehicle

Hahahaha! Come on GM! Exactly what I exclaimed the other day working on an 06 Craparado 3. 5 with the same codes! This video series has been great so far!
