Friend of mine had one of those fancy Audi cars with a V6 turbo of some kind. Had a tune-up done at the dealer. Then it started running like shite -- making popping noises & stuff. Dealer says It's water in the fuel! Put this panther pee additive in there and keep on driving it! -- so he did. He's going down the freeway and the motor exploded. Literally. Parts flying out into the street exploded. Turns out the dumbass mechanic didn't tighten the sparkplugs and one of them broke the tip off of it from the vibrations and a piece of it entered the turbo which disintegrated and went into the motor. KABLOOEY!
Friggin' mechanics trying to figure out the problem never opened the hood. Never. Opened. The hood.
Insurance paid for a junkyard motor. 10K. Wow. So yeah -- don't just plug in the diagnostic stuff. Open the hood.

Eric. I suffer from P. A. R. T. S. D (Post Automotive Repair Traumatic Stress Disorder) The feeling of anxiety over if I did the repair correctly. Watching your videos has helped me understand if I have done the repair correctly, or what I am up against for the next one, I've done my own work for almost 40 years and rarely take a vehicle anywhere and just do it myself. Working with the newer vehicles are harder to repair and diagnose but I use sites like yours to help me 'F. S. O' (figure shi out) I'll see if I can find some coin to send your way. Thx.

Dont recall if you mentioned it, but what And who they put in the vehicle can be the difference in finding the problem. It may look like plenty of clearance but when grandma puts four of Italian pastry eating buddies in to go visiting other old people and the axle bumper is pinching the fuel pump/sender harness as its pounding the frame rail. It may look alright on the outside of the conduit, but knowing what they do with it, youll probably take a little looksee inside and discover the carnage.

What's with FCA and Chrysler/Jeep junk and all the inexcusable electrical problems? If it's not a bad TIPM, bad ground, bad connector, it's wires being rubbed through that were never properly protected to begin with. And why did it need a new driveshaft? That's like saying I need a new anvil. Jeep can't even make driveshafts that don't fail? I still can't believe you voluntarily bought a Jeep product. They're like buying an entire vehicle made of Dorman parts.

I was wondering how many boring brake jobs it would take, now that Josh is back in school, before you called Keith and begged him for some interesting stuff to do up on Stanton Island. I knew you couldn't take it much longer. The nuns at my Catholic grade school use to tell us youngsters that an idle mind is the devil's workshop. They were often wrong but not in this case.

also hearing detection lol it gets ruff when you have bad eyesight and bad hearing lol need those noise recorder things you have my diy is turn my phone into a recorder and put it in the area that you need to listen also use the camera to see for me lol works well when i have to depend on something i cant hear or see lol only lost one phone on the road lol

My truck a 1994 chevy c1500 beater was missing, stalling and choking out. I pulled in a place for lunch jiggled some wires and found a loose connection on the temp sensor. When messed with the wiring to harness to sensor the truck ran fine. Yes an auto zone parking lot fix was in full affect. Iwas that guy.

Would ya just look at that! Just look at it! Lol
Ive fixed many things from just a visual, Neighbour brought his truck over that had a squeak, been like that for 8 months, fallow the shit stain from the rust to find his one lower control arm was loose and sliding in and out.

Can't beat a good old nosy at the part. In my experience alot of electrical faults are of this nature i. e. wiring damaged, disconnected sensor etc.
I remember someone showed me a car where the speedo wasn't working after a clutch change. Guess what was left unplugged.

Dont ya love it when the problem finds you quickly. Doesnt happen all the time but like youve said theres so many things connected to that CAN
5 volt reference wire. Pays to have a visual look before digging in. Saved you a lot of hassle. Nice work Eric
