I had a 78 Dodge, that was Ze Barfed, lifetime warranty on the car. The Strut Towers rusted out, this car was rarely driven in the Winter, and I washed the Underbody if it was driven on Salted roads. The car was dangerous to drive, Ze-Barf, refused to honor their warranty in anyway, their action was to just tie me up in court forever. The car got to the point it wouldnt pass inspection. PS I now about the name, avoiding a lawsuit!

Its amazing what a rust environment will do to vehicles. Im from the south and have a 2008 Chevy Silverado 4x4 it has 150k on it and still has all the original suspension components. Im from small town USA and see plenty of rough backroads and am steady off road in it(farmer. We seem to have more trouble out of our dodge front ends then any other. Theyll still get close to a 100k though before needing replacement.

I have problems with your diagnoses it looks as if this spray was sprayed over existing rust which will only continue to rot away if this or any coating were sprayed onto a clean clear surface i believe it would protect also think this was sprayed on too thick and was just not applied properly at all

I just looked at a used car that had this crap sprayed all under it. exactly the same as this car, peeling layer upon layer of rubber. peeled a bit away, RUST. EVERYWHERE. a fist sized hole in the floorboard, strut tower had a fist sized hole in it. gross. this stuff should be illegal.

I am planning to use 3M body schutz undercoating on my truck bed as it is all scratched, and I want to cover it with something that is very resistant to scratches.
any opinions about this?

Agreed. In Canada where I live the Ziebart shop went bankrupt, I remember the scandal back in the late 70s. People in the know only use oil and shops that know how to do it wash and dry the vehicle before spaying the oil.

The question is? When the undercoat was applied is the rust had been cleaned and removed all? A lot of people skip the hard part that is remove all the rust and just applied the black undercoat over the rust

Most mechanics hate working on the tarred vehicles, but they have no problem putting rusty parts back on your car. Just a little spray of rust inhibiter would go a long way to restore consumer confidence.

Interesting video I certainly won't be using any of that. I have some surface rust on my car, what are your thoughts on rubbing a wire brush over it, using a rust converter and then painting over it?

You have to spray less than 1/8 of an inch of coating, not caked on. Only one or two coats. If you put it on too thick, it dries and cracks, then water gets in and is trapped.
